I found some Aguila subsonic .22s at Midway, and ordered a brick. I have had a chance to shoot some of them, and I'll have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. They are good looking, accurate, and function well in my 10/22 and Mark II pistol.

Kind of ironic, that ammo made in Mexico would be better than some of the junk released recently by some of the biggest names in the business here in the good ol' USA. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I saw that also and bought a brick that should arrive today. Hoping it works well in a suppressor... if not, I'll just stand outside local Sportsman Warehouse and sell it to a hoarder!

Also ironic that if you got caught with one round of that ammo in your possession while in Mexico you'd wind up in a Mexican jail indefinitely until you could pay off the local magistrate/police chief. However, I use it too and agree that it is good quality ammo.

I've used Aguila SV .22 ammo in Bullseye competition for several years, since it used to be available through CMP for well under $200 a case, delivered. My Walther GSP Expert can't tell the difference between that and CCI Pistol Match, and while it does shoot a bit smaller groups with Eley Tenex (at $200 or more per brick!) I'm not good enough to be able to benefit from them.

Re: OP. Aguila produces very excellent .22 LR ammunition! Results using a variety of .22 LR loads produced by Aguila have been superb. In my 18-3 and my Marvel .22LR 1911 conversion function and on target accuracy has been excellent in every way with little firing residue.

I picked up some Aguila Match Pistol from Midway a while back for my M&P 22. After reading about how finicky those pistols can be, I didn't have high hopes. Stuff runs like a dream, not one malfunction with it. Wish I could say as much for the Winchester 333 bulk pack, 3 failures in 12 rounds.

Just wondering if any of you have tried it in a Model 41? I am definitely looking for substitute for CCI SV for that gun.

My only experience with Aguila .22 rimfire ammo has been the Colibri, usually in my 2" Model 34. Makes less noise than a .177 air rifle and does a good job on small pesky critters.

I've got a 6 inch 617 that shoots the colibri pretty well. Super Colibri is fun out of a rifle. Very quiet.

The best part about Aguila ammo is the awesome smell it produces when shot. Very distinctive. :)

I've shot cases of Aguila. It is good stuff. It really isn't surprising since when Eley upgraded to digital equipment they sold their old analog equipment to Aguila and helped them set it up.

More about Aguila

The Jan 15 issue of Guns & Ammo came in a couple days ago and the author was heads over heels in love with this ammo. Author is a Alfredo Rico.;);)

I just read this thread and the reviews here seem good. It appears they make a bunch of different calibers, so if I can find any up here I will be happy to give it a serious try out.

They make a bunch of different .22 RF ammo so hopefully that one in particular will be available. For the most part you have a better chance of being abducted by a UFO getting the traditional anal probe than finding 22RF around here. Most time when you do find it, it’s very severely limited as to quantity, so having another source would be good!

So any other comments about this south of the border ammo would be appreciated.

Re: OP. Have used Aguila in a variety of .22 LR loads with extremely excellent results in my S&W 18-3 and my Marvel 1911 .22 LR conversion. Absolutely perfect in feeding, firing and ejection. Very good ammunition that works and works well in my handguns and rifles. Very pleased with it. Will most assuredly buy more when it is available. Sincerely. brucev.

Very good ammo , a little smoky but I would say quality wise, close to CCI I wish I could get some locally , I got mine on line from shooters supply

Nothing more to add, but some years ago, I shot up a couple of bricks of the old yellow box Aguila.22 LR HV loads and it performed well. This is the Aguila RF product line: Rimfire | Aguila

I notice Academy Sports is now carrying Aguila .22 RF ammunition, at least the last couple of times I was there.

I've tried several different types of Aguila and have had no problems with any of it. It does have a strange smell, but it shoots well. The Colibri and Super Colibri are just fun to play with and the SSS Sniper Subsonic could be good if one had to use a .22 for home/self defense.
