As the actor holding the pistol, he might skate. As the producer responsible for lax safety procedures, he won’t, both civilly and criminally. Now whether he actually serves time is questionable.
I think he already settled a civil suit with the husband. My understanding is a criminal trial is all that is forthcoming. So his defense is guns kill. Not people. Because he didn’t pull the trigger. Sounds plausible to me.
Baldwin is using a similar legal defense as "Curly" Bill Brocius, who shot Marshall Fred White in Tombstone AZ. Brocius claimed his revolver discharged, despite not pulling the trigger.
Man, the schadenfreude is heavy on here tonight. Death penalty for involuntary manslaughter? Really? And barely a word about the victim...
The guy pointed a loaded gun at another human being and squeezed the trigger...and he should be held accountable for that. But he shouldn't be held any more (or less) accountable than anybody else would be.
Well, "justice" is whatever a judge or jury determines. And while it's fashionable these days to claim that core institutions like our courts are "unfair", I have faith that things generally work out the way they should.
If it had happened in San Antonio, our local George Soros financed DA would probably do no more than write him a reprimand letter and call it good. He never met a criminal he didn't love.
His lawyers and experts they hire, who are unaffordable to six pack Joe, will make sure he gets his justice.
Could you afford the same? I wouldn’t have a row of lawyers and “expert” witnesses ($$$$$) pushing for my interests.
