Alexander Arms upper

Wow, just wondering if the buffer tube would hold. Price is reasonable though hmmm...

Holy crud. That .50 Beowulf round is crazy. What animal do you plan on hunting with it? IMO, I'd just go with a shotgun + rifled slug over .50 Beowulf. LOL

Have you given any thought to .300 BLK?

I live just up the road from Alexander Arms and when I worked at the LGS I talked to Bill every now and again when he came by.
They make good stuff, a coworker had the .50 Beo and it was an incredible round.
Would easily be my first choice if a car or a bear was charging towards me
Unfortunately ammo is pricey and most AR stocks are, shall we say, less than comfortable with this big round.
If you want the biggest baddest gun on the range or are thinking of doing some big game hunting (within 150 yards) I would say go for it.
However it's always been my opinion to never take more then I need, so the .50 didn't appeal much.
I can tell you from firsthand shooting though, they really are a blast.
That isn't a bad price.

Think in terms of adding 45-70 capability to your AR. The .50 Beowulf pretty closely duplicates that round.

I reload for a friend of mine's. Factory ammo is not cheap, but Starline makes brass and the bulk Rainier 335gr plated bullets are a fairly low cost plinking option. I just bought 500 of them for $120.

It is a fun round to shoot. A stout load of Lil' Gun pushing the 335s definitely let you know they are there, but the recoil is not as stout as I was expecting.

I doubt too many people that buy these have a real "need," but I have to admit the last several purchases that wound up in my safe were all about "want."

I was just looking for opinions on this. I don't think it's for me. My cousin emailed me the Cabela's ad and thought I'd be interested in it. It is an interesting add-on though.

I'm somewhat looking at these also. I'm deciding on the .50 beo or 300 blk. I was leaning towards the .50 because I live in an area with heavy wildlife densities. Moose, brown/black bear, caribou, etc. The .50 poses a better option for self defense, but the 300 better for hunting. The reason I've strayed away(for now anyway) is the availability of ammo. There's only one lgs in my town that reloads it, so it's somewhat scarce as of yet. And I don't reload, so it'd be cumbersome for me.
