I've seen quite a few of those although that may be the most detailed and most don't have gold inlays. This one may or may not have been engraved by Kurt Jaeger as he employed a number of engravers in the early 1950s but apparently required that most everything leaving the shop have his name on it. The oak leaf motif is really nice on many of them. As I remember, he had a shop near, maybe in, the Wiesbaden Rod & Gun Club. There were lots of Victory revolvers available after the war and probably cost the GIs little or nothing to obtain them. The front sight modification on this one is often seen.

One of the problems with them, can't tell about this one, is that the engraver often removed the SN on the butt and replaced it with engraving. Was probably considered an enhancement at the time but this is technically a problem with out BATF friends so I've steered away from some of them because of it.

The written description lists a serial number. Bid away!

Yes, but I didn't see a picture of the SN on the butt which is the only one that counts as far as the BATF is concerned. The SN will be on the cylinder and under the barrel but the BATF doesn't care about those. Probably not a big deal, but I'd certainly ask about the SN being on the butt before I bought one.

An academic issue for this one anyway as the auction was in 2017.
