Almost A CTR

At one time I had a Magpul CTR stock and of course I sold it. (yes I'm one of those people)
Anyway I really liked the fact that it had a built-in quick disconnect socket and I almost upgraded to one recently but my wallet told me to come up with a plan 'B'.
I had located a socket on my current Magpul MOE stock in the traditional location but I wanted to try carrying it differently for some reason.
I could have slipped a strap through the slot and maybe added a buckle or something but I didn't want that.
It was really difficult for me to add a socket in its new location with a screwdriver but eventually I succeeded.

Rambo would be proud!

Yea I kept getting tempted to buy another CTR stock from time to time and then I would decide that I really didn't need one and finally realized after 100 or so episodes that this temptation dwelling stuff is really ridiculous.
So I sort of compromised and hopefully this will scratch that itch...was thinking of a different pistol grip though.
...It never ends.

Years ago I put a Butler Creek folding stock on a Ruger 10/22 and it came with a Hogue overmolded pistol grip.
Didn't really care for how it felt so I shortened it and shaped it until it felt like the most comfortable grip ever!
My AR came as a MOE version and although I liked the grip well enough I never forgot how my custom grip used to feel.
Still have a bit more shaping to do but it's getting close.

Now I want a forward pistol grip...it never ends.

Right angle screwdrivers, normal and ratchet type, and right angle cordless drills are absolutely necessary for some chores.
After four decades of marine electronics work, we have lotsa them.
Occasionally we would glue a very short bit into a long handled wrench, to get things mounted.
Drills won't fit in some areas so it's self tappers, strong hands
and patience.
You often work in odd contorted positions and blind.
Components, like the autopilot compass, can't be mounted just anywhere.

Made this grip in '79 that eases the bend in the wrist a wee bit.
One side colored veneers and the other is Gaboon.
Currently on a 6920.
One 6920 is being setup for offhand target fun and the other has the MagPul forward grip for Sharknado incursions.

OK I see what you're saying about right angle drivers, anything I had was too big and awkward.
I ended up removing the recoil pad and drilling pilot holes from the back side
That worked eventually after I fought trying to get the screws in.
The grip came out decent as well, I like it better than the MOE and I still had the end plug from the old grip so I can store a spare CR3032 scope battery and a master link for the trigger pins.

Yeah I'm liking that grip now, I don't even use the new bottom finger groove (I think originally it even had one more after that)and I think my original modified grip was shorter overall but I like the length in back for the palm of the hand so it stays.

...been there done that.
Since nobody is currently yakking on this forum, I just found a picture of my old Ruger 10/22 with folding stock and modified grip.
I've always liked folding or collapsible stocks, I put them in shortened gun cases with backpack straps and head to the boonies for some plinking fun.
Don't want low lying branches yanking me off the quad!
