I have seen a few posts asking about ambidextrous safeties on various 39, 40 & 59 series pistols.

I located a S&W OEM New Stainless Ambi for my 39-2, I could not locate a Blue one.

It did not come as a complete unit.

It came as a "Safety" and "Safety Lever" separately.

There are 2 versions available.

One version (I think is aftermarket but not sure) which has a screw connecting the right side lever to the safety. A gunsmith told me the screw will work loose with time even with Blue Loctite.

Second version is a Smith OEM which I obtained. The right side lever slides into a dovetail on the safety and snaps into position.

NOTE: You do not have to have the safety cut-out on the 39-2 right side wood grip for this safety. This safety is for the 39, 40 & 59 series pistols.

I got the safety & safety lever from Numrich.
Part #: 333460 & 333520.
Total cost was $118.03 in May 2021
Pricy in my opinion but has been worth it when I shoot with both hands.

I hope this info assists others wanting to install an ambi on their 39, 40 & series pistols.

If you are interested you may notice the sights on my 39-2 are not original. I made a post several months ago with photos about the Millett sights I put on my 39-2.
