I'm a lefty, and while I can adapt to certain things that are geared towards you right-handed folks, I do feel the need for an ambidextrous safety on my M&PT.

I'll probably add a left-handed magazine release as well, but I can live with the current set up. It's the safety that drives me nuts.

Are there any concerns with adding an ambidextrous safety or is it a fairly easy job to switch it over?

Just watched a youtube video about changing the safety out. Didn't realize how easy it is to do, and it looks like the DPMS ambi safety is one of the more reasonably priced products out there so thanks for the info.

Im a Lefty and I just don't bother using the safety on my AR. When it is in my safe it is unloaded but even if it wasn't it can't shoot itself. When it is loaded at the range I am shooting. When I stop shooting to check my targets I have to take the mag out and insert a plastic yellow flag to show that the chamber is empty. If I have to use the rifle for self defense then the safety is definitely off!

WNC seabee..does it work well, I have kicked the idea back and forth because my wife is a left. She tries real hard to adapt but the easier I make it for her the better everything is.

I'm a lefty as well. I've considered an ambi safety but I've always managed by using my trigger finger to manipulate the safety lever. I can do it quickly and smoothly. I did however go for an ambi mag release and that, I can tell you, was very much worth it! I got the Troy one. I can't say enough good about it.

I carry the Battle Arms Development Ambidextrous Safety Selector kit and the Norgon ambidextrous magazine release.

Battle Arms Development offers a lever exchange program. At any time that you would like to try out a different lever, you can email [email protected], and let him know what levers you would like to try out and where to ship them to. Roger will send out the replacement levers first so that way your rifle will not have any down time.

I just checked out the products, I really like both of them but how does that ambi mag release work, do you push on something or slide something? The different levers is pretty handy to, a lot of choices to customize for different hand sizes. Thank you!

When you depress the textured portion of the Norgon mag release, it pivots the mag catch lever to release the magazine.

When you first install the Norgon Ambi-Catch™ it may be a little hard to depress, but it will break in with use.

The Battle Arms Ambi-safeties rock!

I have them on each of my AR15's... and my M&P15-22. They help make the inherently right hand-centric nature of the standard AR15 somewhat more comfortable for this south paw...

I suspect you've never shot a 2-gun or 3-gun match. Most matches require you to safe the rifle when moving during a stage.

If you're just at a range with benches and nown distances, etc. the safety is less important.
