If the spring is properly made, the weakening that will occur from extended compression will be so minor as to be insignificant.
However, if there's a flaw in the spring's construction (typical in lousy makers, and happens from time to time with the good ones), extended compression (and any other use) can weaken the spring to a dangerous degree.
Run your new, carry, and stored loaded mags every so often to make sure they're functioning properly and you're good to go.
Repeat compression-decompression cycles are what ultimately weaken mag springs, not extended compression -- again, if the spring is properly made.
Mags (or at least their springs where replaceable) are probably best viewed as disposable items if you run them a lot.
