On the way to Asheville, stopped in GT Dist. in JAX, plenty of 9mm, 45ACP, 357 Sig, 5.56. and 12 Ga. slugs. Not much in Academy Sports in Brunswick ( .32 ACP)or Bass Pro in Savannah. Checking in Palmetto Armory in Columbia and another store there tomorrow. May stop in other places in S.C. to check. Will post results. Will check 1 pawn shop in W. Asheville as always go there.

Made it to Asheville and what a Big Disappointment ammo was in S.C.. Palmetto State Armory had very little ( .30
Lugar) and checked Sportsman Warehouse, give me a break! Talk about High Prices!!!! $3-4 bucks more for common rifle ammo( about all they had) than in Florida.... Will check a pawn shop in W. Asheville tomorrow, they usually have lots of stuff.

Hopefully you aren't buying any..... No need to support these people.

IMHO of course,
J.

Did not buy anything but a can of roasted peanuts. Staying with best friend in N.C. for few days, driving down I-95 and will check on few places and post prices.

Back in Savannah after about a 1000 mile loop. None to very little ammo through NC, S.C. and here in Savannah. Stopped in few Wally worlds in N?C? and S.C., zip, nada. Bass Pro in Savannah has lots of shotgun shell and odd ball rifle ammo but no " Standard ammo". Will check Brunswick and few place in JAX tomorrow, not expecting much.

I remember Christmas of 2012, while visiting family in WI ( lived in SC at the time) the inlaws handed down to me their dad's old Colt Challenger. My first gun. On the drive back to SC we hit every Cabelas/Bass Pro/etc we drove by to find 22 ammo. Not a dang thing on the shelves, I thought just due to Christmas gifts lol but i learned quickly it wasnt. It actually took me over a month to find some at retail pricing ( i will never buy anything from someone marking things up) so I could start shooting with it. That whole experience was an eye opener; my guess is there are millions of first time gun owners going thru it now. Maybe even worse if more calibers are affected.

You drove a 1000 miles to look for ammo?

Just hope the experience makes those new gun owners think before they vote.

Wow, some of you guys dont read whole thread. Had business in Asheville( grew up there), then to best friends for few days E. of Raleigh, then to Fayetteville. Stationed at Bragg after Vietnam. Found house we rented and spent couple hours at militaria shop a guy have know for 40+ years owns, shot the breeze. Then back to Savannah, then home to Fl. The ammo thing was just something to do, did not go way out of my way to check.

Well, glad you had a dive around, to check things out before the
gas prices settled in to rob your money from your wallet, also.

Tuff times for all of use, right now.

Did not pay more than $2.66/ gal. as I mapped out Sams Clubs with gas. Planned to go 2 weeks before but best friend in N.C. said no gas around him so waited.

Find anything in Jax? I haven't bothered to look in a while. Little shop on Art Museum drive has ammo, but it's stuff from someone's old stash, at very high prices.
