Ammo supplies are increasing, prices not really dropping

If people would've done this 6 months ago, we'd be out of this by now.

I haven't bought a "desired" caliber in about a year; but I've watched the market with a lot of interest.

I think I've figured this out- there are a lot of contenders out there, but 2 major price indicators.

Watch Sgammo for brass.

For absolute cheapest steel, watch Global Ordnance.

Those 2 are your bellwethers.

Once again, the "problem" being flippers are out of business. You can't buy ammo today to sell tomorrow at the gunshow for double$. That's where 90% of the ammo been going since the "banic" began. Expect overstock prices by August. Joe

Elasticity will come into play once there is enough stock. Remember, the ammo industry needs shooters, so they will determine the maximum price people will pay and still shoot. It is like gas, charge the highest amount the market will bear without changing their driving behavior. A large number of people are buying ammo to hoard not shoot. Ammo manufacturers need shooters and they have to be shooting or the whole house of cards collapses.

Agreed. Seen many of the opportunists at gun shows the past few months selling at outrageous prices. It all comes done again to what someone NEEDS and what they are willing to SPEND...and that's whether you're buying for personal use or buying to try to and turn a profit(or more).

Just saw the first batch of S&B .308 20-round boxes in a LGS that hasn't been there in a year! It was $17.99 /box which wasn't too bad...but I didn't even buy at that price.

I have noticed that 12 ga has been more available with dropping prices. I did pick up some Aguila mini-shells at the last gun show I went to. Box of 20 for $25 of any type if you bought 4 or more.

What I wanted and what I was wiling to spend...

Shop wisely!

Shockwave food...

I got lucky with the Challenger sales a few years back. Someone, Brownells I think, was dumping it at about a third of the Aguila prices. Niche ammo, no-name brand. Grabbed a few hundred, now set for life since I don't shoot it that much.

Wow, that was a bargain! Yes, they feed great with that little rubber Opsol insert.

Need has nothing to do with it's more of a want thing. It's human nature to want what you can't have. If there are no 22's, 38's etc then you want them and if you find them you pay the price. Small pistol primers sold on GB for $100+/10000:eek: a friend found me some at a small gun shop for $75/1000 not cheap but I'll have some to use in Grandpas M&P and the two M19's.
Everything is going up, our gas prices are up 50%, look at groceries and lumber is up 200%. I think things will level out but don't expect prices to come down.

What exactly is this Ammo sitting on the shelf of which you speak?
The last 9mm I bought at Sportsman Warehouse never got on a shelf.
The stocking guy handed me 2 boxes directly from the case.
