Dont buy CBC 7.62x51

I have heard that older CBC ammo was not so good, but recent production is excellent.
Anybody know if this is true?
Guess I'll find out, I ordered 200 rounds of Magtech/CBC M80 308Win 147gr FMJ the other day.

Yes. The old stuff in 70s and 80s had big issues. That is why I asked him why he said don't buy.

The new CBC M-80 ball is same company as Magtech and is fine.

I have had problems with short stroking with CBC and HSM ammo. HSM has been by far the worst, 1 out of 3 short stroke, the CBC isn't as bad. I've put PMC .308, American Eagle .308, Winchester 7.62, and Fiocchi .308 with no problems what so ever. All were 147 or 150 grain.

I've noticed that there is CBC M80 ball which I had problems with, and there is also Magtech .308 that I haven't tried yet. I wonder if they are the same? The CBC was a white and tanish box and the Magtech was a white and blue box.

Got the ammo that was advertised as Magtech/CBC M80 Ball, but it came in boxes marked CBC M80 Ball. No mention of Magtech.
Guess I will see how it functions when I get sights mounted up later this week.

I have 3k rounds of 308 in Tulammo (Russia Steel). Had a PTR 91 that loved it, thats why I have so much. Anyone ever put steel through their M&P 10..Newb here, be gentle.lol

in this post: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p10-rifles/312533-home-home-range.html i described 3 different types i tried. the PPU was brass cased and was fine. the Brown Bear was steel and was also fine. but the hornady steel match had problems stripping out of the magazine. the Brown Bear has a shiny coating on the steel, but the hornady seems to just be colorized steel. i'm wondering if the hornady had problems sliding up inside the magazine where the coating on the Brown Bear helped it slide up easier??

My friend who has a spikes 6.8 had the same problem with the hornady. Solution for him was being VERY sure that all the rounds were set to the back of the mag. Gave it the old "tap -tap" on his arm before loading and chambering each time. Never had a problem after. Hope that may help.

So I went out this weekend and shot both boxes. The one labeled CBC M80 ball(Goldish box), and the one labeled Magtech .308(blue box). The CBC had many failures, and the Magtech only had one out of 50. Kind of weird that even though both are "Magtech" they don't perform the same. The picture I attached shows the 2 different boxes.

I have the same gold box ammo which was advertised as MagTech/CBC, different lot # though. Have not had a chance to shoot yet, as I goofed up and ordered the wrong sights. Hope mine functions better than most.
