I'm wanting to buy an amplified cordless phone. Looking on eBay, I see many
marked..900MHz......5.8Ghz....1.9GHZ......and such like.

These numbers mean nothing to me. Can someone reccomend a good phone..?

I'd go to the 1.9 GHZ (DECT) phones. They have excellent range and security. The one to stay away from is 2.4 ghz. They share frequencies with computer wifi and microwave ovens can also interfere with them.
Buy a better quality phone, stay away from the cheap stuff. I like Unidens higher end phones. Panasonic can be excellent but QC seems a bit spotty. Watch out for GE & AT&T. They ain't what they used to be.
Finally, ask the sales person if he has a spare battery. If he says no I'd be wary.

Clarity brand phones are specialty phones for hearing impaired persons. In general they are of good quality, though an occasional lemon sneaks through. Here's a link:

Yes, if you don't need extra handsets or an answering machine it should do fine.

I can vouch for that! I had a 2.4 and it took me awhile to figure out why I kept getting disconnected from the internet. Seemed like when the phone rang, is when it would happen. But not with every call. My phone had a built in answering machine, and when I'd let the machine answer, I'd get knocked offline. Bought a new Dect 6.0 and haven't had a problem since.

RonJ......I bought the Clarity D603 this week and I'm very pleased with it. Thanks to you and others for the input.

This is a great list. :-)

Windjammer, thanks for the feedback. Glad it's working out for you. :)
