One gun that seems to escape unnoticed most of the time outside Law Enforcement circles is the venerable S&W 3000 shotgun. Unheralded and relatively short-lived, it was only around for a few years, before being subsequently sold to Mossberg, who didn't keep it around much longer, so parts can be an issue. It started out as the 1000P, to differentiate it from the 1000 Auto, which led to confusion and its renaming. It was an improvement in some areas over the long-standing dominance of the Remington 870, which gave it some acceptance in LEO circles, but it never really caught on otherwise. It did lead to Remington making modification to their gun to keep up, though. I decided to make a small collection to complement the gun I carried over half my sworn career, and would still rely on today if I had to. At some point, I will accumulate all the barrels that were available for it, but there are 2 or 3 I still need. I did manage to get a couple of duplicates, though, and will probably have the extra 30" one sent out for Multi choke installation for extra full types.
