I've put about 500 rounds through a new Anaconda .44 Magnum. About 2/3rds of those have been .44 Magnum using Lyman designs #429241 (SWC 250 grs.), Lyman #429244 (SWC 263 grs. with gas check) and the Lyman #429421 (SWC HP version, 235 grs). All bullets are soft, about 10-12 BHN, sized to .432" and loaded with #2400 powder. Muzzle velocities are around 1200 fps.
All bullets are accurate, with the HP bullet being the most accurate, followed by #429244. I haven't done a benchrest comparison but have been shooting Bullseye style at 25 yards. The weight of the Anaconda mitigates recoil considerably in comparison with my S&W 29s.
As many have mentioned the new Colt revolvers have heavy triggers, about six pounds single-action and they take some getting used to, maybe a couple of hundred rounds or more. I'm accustomed to mine and it's no longer the drawback others complain of. Practice and familiarization will take care of the alleged problem.
