The "Impossible Hammer"
I just received my new Revup-Action Hammer, got it all installed, and I was just amazed! My revolver is a S&W 929, which I received new. Out of the box it had a rather disappointing action, with a trigger pull of 16#. Not a problem - I took it to the gunsmith, and was able to get the trigger pull down to a starting pull of 7# and a breaking point of 4.5# Not too bad... But I wanted something even better.
I heard about this new hammer through a few competition friends, describing it like a kind of "compound bow sort of thing, where it starts off with a normal trigger pull, then gradually lessens until you get a single-action like, crisp "break." OK, THAT got my attention, so I ordered one, received the kit, and set about installing it (easy install).
With the new hammer installed, the starting pull was 5.4 pounds, and a breaking point of 2.4# This is amazing! Double action with a single action-like trigger pull. My steel plate scores went up immediately, and this is now my favorite revolver.
The install kit and instructions were spot on, and easy to install. The parts were precise, looked fabulous, and needed no additional gunsmithing to fit. This is no "Ikea" kind of kit - it is what the competition world has desperately needed, ever since revolvers came out.
I visited and got to speak to the owner, and he told me the Revup Action hammer is the product of 30 years, showing me a box full of prototype designs he has accumulated from the beginning. Now, with the final product (although knowing the inventor, he probably still has a few ideas for future improvements), everything is CNC milled to extreme tolerances, with repeatable accuracy, the finish is perfect, and I am in awe of this hammer kit!
Now that this gun is done, I just ordered a new hammer kit for my K frame 617-10. I am excited and can hardly wait for this new kit.
