It has been rumored that Superman cannot "outfly" any caliber faster than a .45 acp.

There is of course the transsonic shock wave problem. At low altitudes accelerating a non-aerodynamic body, Kryptonian, to exceed the speed of sound creates a low altitude shock wave more destructive than the revolver round. There is also the multiplier effect of the shock wave being reflected from object. Therefore Superman should limit his velocity to something under the 850 fps muzzle velocity of the common 158 grain lead round nose .38 Special from a 4" S&W Model Ten.

Who notes the Metropolis Police might use the 200 grain bullet and the point would be moot.
What would happen if Superman opened his mouth in flight and became a hollowpoint ?

I'm enjoying the tunes.
My wife and I just got done torturing the cat.
She held him down and forced his mouth open.
I put some of the high calorie paste on my finger, shoved it in his mouth and wiped it on his tongue. Three times.
Now that's something I'd like to get on video. Then again we'd probably get PETA after us.
Back before bar code readers, mom would dig every can out of the shelves to find an older, lower priced sticker. When she found one it was akin to finding dad's change in the washer.
She will still go to three stores, 10 miles apart, to buy corn pads 6¢ cheaper.
