Won this today for the opening bid . Will post more pictures when it gets here and I clean it up a bit . Red , I believe this is later than the other one .Never seen one with a strap , reckon its original or added ? Coming from Texas so it will be a few days before I have it in hand . I have no idea what it fits but hoping an SAA or Colt OM . :D

I advised the seller, that this one had been altered/repaired, and got a response. The extra stitching at the top of the welt has been added to in a non-standard way, and the stitching on the backside (the r/h of the two cuff stitchings) has been re-worked in a non-standard way. This is a 'late' Brill, indicated by that same backside sewing of the cuff. The strap? Unsure.

Thanks Red . If it fits my colt this will be my everyday holster if it's solid enough . Looks like it's already seen quite a bit of use .

I was studying on that one myself. I thought the strap was an add on, that said, I just bought an O.Ball, a Don Hume, 2 Tex Shoemaker and Hidden Thunder holsters along with 2 Tex Shoemaker ammo carriers and a S&W M&P.....( because of the O.Ball holster). My play money bank needs a break.

Good on ya.... it went at a reasonable price for a Brill. A little application of leather enrich will liven the old girl up a bit.

When my play money builds a bit I am gonna start hunting one of these for a J frame and maybe one that's carved . I'd love to have the Sessums that's been listed for a good while but the seller wants too much and I hate to insult a feller by making a low ball offer . Seller is in Tennessee not too far from here .

Eddie

PS : I decided to go ahead and make an offer on the Sessums , won't likely get it but we will see .

I know exactly how you feel. I'm the same way. On the other hand, there are a lot of seller's who don't mind insulting potential buyers like you and I by listing holsters (and other things) for 3-4 times what we think is "fair market value". I'm sure you know a few of those, don't ya? Don't get me started on that topic.... :D

...if your offer is not accepted, I have a S&W carved J frame holster... yours for the asking.... free

The snubs are quite different to the 4" and up styles, and VERY uncommon (not my pic obviously):

Always made with the trigger guard enveloped, and with a safety strap, too. This one is a 'late'.

Thanks Red . One question about the picture , is the gun in that holster incorrect for the holster or just not seated completely ? I notice the trigger guard is not what I would call completely seated.

He turned me down , no surprise . I offered $100 and he wants $300 . It is a reasonably nice looking holster but it has a strap and the strap is broke . It wasn't for a J frame , he has a 1877 Colt in it so I really am not sure what it actually was made for , not whats in it for sure !

I really appreciate your most kind and generous offer and would gladly accept it if I did not already have a good holster for the only J frame I own . I really very rarely use a holster with it anyway and most always pocket carry that gun . I would love to one day have a Brill for it though . Just developing a financially dangerous thing for the Brill style holsters . Thank you again .

Mark ,

I really dont know enough about Sessums to say he is asking an unfair price for what he has . I can say I can't justify paying $300 for the one he has . If I was a collector it would get a downgrade in price for the broken strap and an even bigger one if the strap is a later addition . I don't collect as such but I do like to see my guns snugglin up in a fine piece of leather , WHEN I CAN AFFORD IT !

I offered $100 and he said no . He's had it listed for a pretty good while and not sold it so I thought I would give it a shot. What's the weather like in The Switch ? Floatin yet ?? :D

Great query, didn't really notice. Not my pic so can't say what pistol is what meant for, nor even exactly what pistol is in it! Yes, based on the tightness of the strap I'd also agree that the correct pistol is meant to go in further :-).

Got it today and gave it a bath . Looks like its gonna fit a 5" HE or a .41 frame Colt with service sights . My $25.00 5" HE fits but not real tight . I think the Colt frame is just a hair larger but the only .41 frame gun I got is a 6" Officers Model Target .

It's in good but not great shape so it will be a good one for the woods . I washed about half a pound (seemed like) of red dirt off of it , gonna let it dry and hit it with the Lexol .

My lousy pictures . Bought the HE about 20 years ago from a friend who had a pawn shop for $25.00 .
