I spent the morning at Shooter's World in Peoria, Az. shooting my 617s with my DS-10 speed loaders and RevUp Action Hammer Kit. '

It's just amazing. The trigger is so smooth, other then the initial pull it fells like I'm shooting almost single action. I felt a consistent pull throughout and never had to stage the trigger.

I fired 150 rounds from my 6 inch 617 and used Federal Champion 40 grain lead ammo. It was my first time using this stuff and I needed to turn my strain screw 1/4 turn to insure ignition.

With my new Thai grips the gun felt better in my hand then it has in years.

My 4 inch shot very well with the Champions and even surprised me when I switched to CCI Clean. I fired 100 rounds of Clen and the cylinders were as good at the end as they were when I started. I may just have to shoot a match or two with this fodder.

The 4 inch is still set with the stock hammer. All I've done is polish the insides and the trigger as well as replacing the stock rebound spring with an 11 pounder. I also put a Bushnell First Strike 2.0 red dot sight on it. It's a smaller dot than I'm use to but was bright enough at the indoor range.

Charging the gun with my DA-10s I managed to go through 300 rounds in less than an hour. I like going with a few loading blocks ready at the asking.

Very nice!!

The CCI clean has lived up to its moniker in my 617s, Mark IIs, and our Tippmanns.

I’m looking to pick up a 4” 10-shot to partner with my 6” and trying to decide if the Apex or RevUp would be the better route. I’m still stock in mine for now, with only a few thousand rounds of polishing the internals.

Those Thai grips look very nice on the 6 incher. Can I ask what kind of grips you have on the 4 inch 617?

You can't go wrong with either one. I haven't seen the Mass Drive Apex Hammer on their website for a while. They've been out of stock for a long time.

I find the RevUp to be well worth the money. Trigger may be heavy to start since it's a .22 but it's amazingly smooth. The last part of the trigger pull is beyond explanation. It really feels like it's single action event though your still pulling the DA.

In the 36 years I have been shooting Smith revolvers I never had the side plate off of any of them until today. Replaced the rebound spring in my 6" 617-5 with a 12 lb spring.

My 4" 617-1 obviously had the springs replaced by a previous owner. I wanted my 617-5 to have a similar pull and it may now be even better!
