Well, I like that one too. But no more help on this one than the other two. Hopefully RKmesa will be along as he'll likely have valuable information and insights on all three.

Yea...like it very much

I've got to agree with Doc 44 about value in the $3,000 arena.

That is full coverage for sure and if you can spot the engravers name (or initials) somewhere on the gun it may enhance the value if a well know engraver.

I sold the engraved Model 60 several years ago for $2,500. It was engraved by Ben Shostle, Founder of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA). If you do find initials or name then go to the FEGA website and there might be a bio about the engraver. Mine had stag grips and the ram relief had detail so fine that you could see the rams eyelashes!

Mine lettered as shipping June 9, 1981.

Best of luck with that fine gun.

Letter these engraved guns or not?

OP, I see in one of your other posts that you asked about getting a Letter on your engraved Model 60's.

It is a toss-up, especially if you are contemplating selling the guns. A Factory Letter of Authentication can be helpful IF...IF.. the engraving was done at the factory, prior to shipment to first owner.

Otherwise (aftermarket engraver) the Letter will only state that the grips and engraving are aftermarket and you are still in the dark about who did the engraving.

The below posted Letter is in regards to the Ben Shostle engraved, with stag grips that I posted above. The Letter did not make any additional "value" when I sold the revolver, but then again...the deal I've found with engraved firearms is that even if you are priced fairly...it still takes that one buyer that really appreciates engraved guns. Other shooters and even collectors just see a tremendously overpriced Model 60, so you are really looking for a fine art connoisseur who also appreciates fine firearms.

This makes sense to me - I noticed that the two matching ones have fairly widely spaced serial numbers which suggests it's less likely that these were done in the factory.

Another Model 60 here - very ornate engraving. Outstanding condition as shown.

Thoughts on value?

Although a different style than the other three engraved Model 60s that you posted, I believe that this one may also have been engraved by the same hand in the same shop. The scroll on this one is something more often seen on engraved shotguns, and not often seen on engraved S&Ws. I think it is very nice and I like it. I think the value would range from $2.5K-$4K, depending on how it is sold and how much interest there is in the engraved stainless model 60s.

I don't think that an Historical Letter will provide much additional value on this one, as it was not factory engraved.

Thanks for sharing,
