My Dumbfone is a Nokia slab configured as a Windows phone. I was pretty much forced to buy it as none of the other AT&T phones would work with the Bluetooth in my car. Bluetooth not being treated by anybody as a standard is a rant for another day.

The phone has a 5MP camera. I recall when I first got it the phone it was loaded with Window 8 and to get the max resolution of the camera I had to access the settings and set it to 5 MP.

Fast forward to today when it occurred to me that I should set my camera to a lower resolution for non-critical shots. That way I save time and bandwidth when I forward stuff. Went to the camera settings, and the resolution option is AWOL.:confused::confused: I searched the Web to see what I had done wrong, only to find that the Seattle Overlords had removed this option when "upgrading" to Windows 8.1.:confused::mad::mad::mad: Large doses of WTH, over.:mad::mad:

I have yet to discover why they did this, but I am better off than some after the 8.1 upgrade. There are a lot of VERY grumpy people with cameras locked at 2MP resolution unless they install a 3rd party app. Talk about Microsoft fixing what wasn't broken.

I can only wish the following upon the idiot who suggested this "upgrade":-

1) Sudden inability to breed. We don't need your type of helpfulness in the gene pool.

2) Something ugly and painful to happen to them, probably taken from Game of Thrones, dragged out over a week or three and finishing with an unspeakable act upon their person committed by a dragon.

3) The most excruciating parts of #2 are to be widely distributed on YouTube as a reminder to all software writers the consequences of being "helpful".

This thread sounds suspiciously like the infamous text messages that could not be deleted.:D

When e-mailing photos is there not an option to resize the pic before sending? I've been using IOS for so long I shouldn't even comment I'm so out of touch with the aggrevations and nonsense with MS.
Good luck.

Did more research before typing, this time.:D There are a slew of disgruntled folks around the Web regarding this particular "upgrade".

Read the reply in this thread. It is categorical that the functionality has been removed from 8.1.

Windows 8.1 Camera app "More Options" - Microsoft Community

Allegedly, I might be able to get it back with a third party app or the free Nokia Camera app. However, as soon as I try to load the Nokia app it demands I activate location services and it bleats I also require a Microsoft account. I will not comply.

To be honest, I don't give a rats as the camera appears locked in its top resolution. When it comes to sending pictures, I have plenty of data capacity, I was just trying to be considerate to everyone else. On top of that I use a proper camera to take any serious pictures.

Wait, only Windows can hook up with Bluetooth in your car? Not Android or iPhone? Hmmm, never heard of such a thing.

The Windows phone was the only FREE phone that would connect. I wanted a straight flip phone, but it seems that the 2008 car I drive had a rather flaky Bluetooth implementation and it refused to play with the plain phones in the store.

Ford, earlier this year, dropped its partnership with MS and the SYNC System.

The SYNC system will barely function with MP3 players other than the discontinued ZUNE players. I have an 8GB ZUNE which is full. I decided, since they're no longer produced, to get a Sony Walkman @ 16gb. It will not sync in the car. I finally located a 32gb reconditioned Zune, and it still doesn't work well.

I sent a letter to Ford with my complaint, after reading that iPods, etc., don't work well. The world standard is the iPod, yet it will not work well with the Ford SYNC. The answer from Ford was that Zune was the standard, and if I didn't use the Zune, then MP3 players of other brands wouldn't be a solution. Unbelievable!

I guess I'm a curmudgeon as my phone is mounted in the wall and has a curly cord, I have a camera and isn't Bluetooth some kind of animal disease?

My phone automatically resizes pictures before it sends them. Maybe yours does too?

Interesting thought. I'll try an experiment with a buddy when he gets back from his trip.

I have noticed that even though I have a 4G signal at my house, pictures take a while to send, suggesting large file size and/or slow connection.

The Sync in my '10 F-150 XLT has always worked flawlessly for me.

I've upgraded my smart phone 4 times since owning the truck with no problems.

I stream Pandora alot from my Andriod device, use my iPad, IPod, have a 30 gig flash drive plugged into the USB port and everthang works as it should.

But, I've never gone to the Ford site to 'upgrade' the Sync system with their new software cuz if it ain't broke............

Don't hold back, Steve, it's bad for your blood pressure. Tell us how you really feel about Microsoft. :D

I have to agree, though, your rants tend to be eloquent and imaginative. :)

I hate hate HATE Windows based phones and tablets. They try too be both a tablet and a PC and fail at both. Nokia used to be THE phone and now they are in mothballs. I invite Nokia to flush Microsoft down the toilet and go with a Droid based IS.

I love my Samsung Galaxy S4. Want the Note4
