About a month ago, and I knew better, but yet I STILL bought it anyway. I'll say unless you try it, you will not know if you like it? OK, I purchased a bottle of alleged---as per lable--''hot sauce''. I bought (laughs hysterically) a bottle of Taco Bell, aka, Taco Hell, version of hot sauce--going for the hottest they had. This lousy stuff comes in a bottle with orange label.

OK, I made a sausage egg muffin with cheese, then opened and tried what I had hoped, would be good hot sauce. Well, it ain't.:mad:

I drenched my breakfast in the stuff and was ruined but, I ate it anyway. Their hot 'hot' sauce---aint. Also, tasted bad, very bad. Never again, I'll make my own stuff unless someone can think of a brand that fits my requirements?

1/ Has to be flaming hot.
2/ Has to taste good.
3/When eaten indoors, it HAS to have the ability to eat the paint off of walls.

Another product--which is new and I tried last night....to avoid is: Campbell's bean and pork soup. It was barely edible, but tasteless. I bought two cans but will see if they will exchange the one I still have, for another soup.

Frank's Red Hot is my "go to" cayenne sauce (low vinegar content). Their Extra Hot has a bit more cayenne in it, but may not be worth the additional expense. I like them both.

Beyond this, Habanero and White Ghost pepper sauces may meet your needs. Try them both and decide for yourself.

Most americans don't know how to eat spicy foods. If you cook peppers, they will tend to give you an upset stomach. This is why I avoid canned "hot" products. Too much vinegar in a hot sauce doesn't add flavor, it will just make you sick. This is why I don't care for Tabasco Brand Cayenne Pepper Sauce. It may be aged in White Oak barrels, but it still has too much vinegar.

I wish you well in your quest.

Ringo, the two most precious liquids on earth are beer and Sriracha.

I, long ago, abandoned all other hot sauces for the original "rooster sauce".

I go through a 28 oz bottle of Sriracha every 10 days.

To say I love it just doesn't quite cover it.

Ruthie keeps a bottle in her purse for when we eat out.

I have grabbed the brass ring.

Thank you and I'll check if its for sale here? I can do habanero, but will avoid the ghost pepper for now. About 6 months ago, I made a jar of habanero salsa, still have half left.:)

Ringo, are you related to Sydney?

This one and the next two strips.
Grrl Power - Grrl Power #28

Then this one and the next one.
Grrl Power - Grrl Power #117

Heh heh, im not that brave, however, Sabrina is. This gal makes her own and uses it on most of what she cooks. I lost feelings on my tongue and innards once already. I had to eat chips and other stuff to begin to defeat the flames from her home made lava.

I'll have to see if that is available here too? I don't recall seeing any but? :)

Most store bought hot sauces aren't hot. Especially from chain or major grocery stores. These are typically mild in the Scoville scale. For instance
Jalapeños are between 1000 - 4000 heat units

Serrano peppers are 10,000 - 23,000 heat units

Cayenne pepper 30,000 - 50,000 heat units

Scotch Bonnet peppers are 100,000 - 350,000

Scorpion/ Ghost peppers are 850, 000 - 2,199,999

Carolina pepper is 1,600,000 - 2,200,000

Here is what I like

El Yucateco comes in 3 colors, green, red, and orange, and I know at least 2 of them are habanero.
They are hot and tasty, pretty much my favorite. I like Chollula and Tabasco, but they just aren't hot enough.
Try it, you'll like it. :)

There's two components to hot sauces.... heat and flavor. Most, like your Taco Bell sauce, are predominantly flavor sauces. Very little heat. The name brand and mass market store bought hot sauces are all flavor sauces. Use them like ketchup or A1 Sauce.

Franks does a good job, IMO, of blending heat and flavor. They have a lot of styles to choose from. Tabasco, too, has a good flavor to heat balance. More flavor than heat. One of my favorite hot sauces, for flavor alone, is the little packets of hot sauces you get from McDonald. Great flavor, almost no heat.

The super hot sauces are all about heat. That's what they're famous for. They have very little flavor. These sauces so powerful, and are used in such tiny amounts, the other flavors don't make any differences. You can never us enough of the stuff to taste the flavor. All you get is heat. Which is what they're for. At least, that how I use them.

Please, for the sake of humanity and those of us that enjoy your posts, find some lab rats to test this stuff on lest we lose a valued wit and since of humor. And that is laced on thicker than any sauce you ever tried!:D:D:D:D

let me say I know nothing about "hot sauces"......

but I really enjoy Chinese mustard..... not the stuff in the packets..... but the stuff they bring you in a bowl at the table...........

my boys...one of whom likes "hot sauces" ....... think I'm nuts...... but boy does it clear you sinus passages ...

Ringo,

Don't you live in Corpus Christ? You should be able to find any of the sauces mentioned above at your HEB or Walmart.

I like a bit of zip in my foods, but do not partake in punishingly hot sauces. The picture is what I have on hand now. The Goya was a first time purchase for me, was too mild for anything but chip dipping, and I will not buy it again. Everything pictured is available at HEB. Check the International aisles as well as the condiment aisles. Also, see if your Academy stocks rubs and hot sauces in the outdoor cooking area.

I also like the La Costena line of salsas. Some of those have a good dose of heat along with flavor. Most have MSG, but I have no MSG issues.

Edit: Went to La Michoacana Meat Market and picked up my favorite La Costena salsas. The Green Mexican is tomatillo/jalapeno based. The Taquera is tomato/arbol pepper based. Both are labeled as medium, but the taquera salsa is much more spicy.

Well Bam.......... after all..............it's Chinese.
Can never be too sure.

Casca. Think it's Casca the Cannibal. He's in San Fransisco, just after the War of Yankee Aggression, and is trying to get a berth on a ship. He's talking to the ship's master, at a restaurant in Chinatown, and is invited to eat.

Asks what the meal is. With his mouth full, the Captain says "Pii Oh Gaun".

Casca says, "What?"

Captain swallows, belches, and repeats, "Pig Organ".

Casca asks, "WHICH organ?"

Captain says, "I suspect, from the pig's point of view, the most important one."
