Just finished reading "Spearhead" by Adam Makos. About the 3rd Armored Division and in particular about a gunner in a Sherman Tank and later one of the few new Pershings received late in the war. Was the gunner in the tank that went head to head with a German Panther in Cologne, Germany. (Look up on You Tube).

Highly reccomend. First book about tanks in WWII that I have read. If you like the movie Fury you will enjoy this book.

Try to find, "Brazen Chariots", by Maj. Robert Crisp, DSO, etc.

Crisp was a South African cricket player who joined the Royal Tank Regiment and fought Rommel in N. Africa. He was badly wounded and didn't return to action until the Normandy campaign was underway two years later.

His tank was the M-3 Stuart, called a Honey by the British for reasons he explains. He was probably the officer who came up with the Honey name after testing one.

If you like tank combat, this is a must-read book.

Try these also. I found them very interesting.
* Death Traps by Bolton Y. Cooper. He was a 2nd LT Maintenance Officer with the 3rd AD. Unique perspective.
* The Tank Killers by Harry Yeide. It’s about the Tank Destroyer units in ETO, the development of the TD and operational deployment.
* Another River, Another Town by John P. Irwin. He was a teenage gunner, ending the War in an M26 engaging a Tiger Tank in Dessau.
* The Tank War by Mark Urban followers a British tank unit from North Africa to Germany.
