This 627-2 CCU2331 appears to be in pretty nice shape.
The S&W and the .357 Magnum on the barrel is kind of hard to read.
Will it eventually fade away?
It feels pretty good in my hand and its a .357 so I like it. ;)
Are these a desirable guns?
How much do you think this one is worth??

No idea about what it's "worth" ... and I'm generally a pre '97 guy but...

The gold bead sight & unfluted cylinder bring me the serious drool! :cool:
It would probably be "worth" more to me than perhaps that guy over there.

It is a cool gun for sure. :cool:
 
That's a very interesting gun. Appears to be a 6-shot with the new frame and a floating FP. Also has the interchangeable front sight.

The only place I have seen script laser engraving is on pieces for export. Is the barrel 5.5" or 6"? If you buy this it is certainly worth having it lettered. If you don't, PM the location, LOL.

I agree with Pizza Bob. The only time I've seen the laser etching in cursive is on a Euro export. It won't fade away on it's own but keep the Mother's or Flitz away from it.

Its a 5" barrel. If I don't take it I'll let you know. :D

In all honesty I need another .357 like I need another hole in my head. LOL!!!

Smith and Wesson wastes nothing

In the late 1990s S&W had a batch of left over 6 shot unfluted cylinders with no where to go. So they assembled those revolvers from parts. I think that there were two different barrel lengths at the time

When this happens, the run is usually small. I have seen one that was 14 pieces and I have seen some that are over 100.

These guns are then offered as an entire lot to the bigger Distributors that order exclusive firearms on a regular basis.

In the 1990s most of these parts guns were sold to Lew Horton

If you letter it I am sure Roy will include the total number assembled

If I were buying it, I would not pay any more than I would with any of the 101024 revolvers. To me the oddity does not equate to extra value.

Now if you hit a collector that just has to have the odd ball little runs, it could very well bring a premium

The "oddity" or "rareness" doesn't do much for me. I just find it appealing and its a .357.

It has a $1000 price tag on it. I can probably get it for maybe $700.

For $700 that decidion to buy should have already occurred. I would jump on it

The revolver was manufactured on August 5th of 1998

I do not have a SCSW handy to look up SKU 148218
 
You better run and get it NOW!! I have hardly ever seen them for sale. I chased the 5 inch 627 for around 15 years. I came up with two within 6 months and paid nearly the price as on this one about 4 years ago. The second one was lots more!!!

There were not many 627-2s made. They were made in both 5 and 6 inch barrels. Some CDY serial numbers and some CCU serial numbers and one other series that I don't remember.

They are great shooters and soak up magnum recoil very well. I saw one 6 inch like new in the box sell on GunBroker for $3976!! The last 6 inch I saw sold for about $1400 a year or two ago. The 6 inch is much more common than the 5 inch!!

The lettering is laser engraved and not very deep. I would not polish it at all!!
 
I don't care for s&w stainless, Id rather ruger's for ccw revolvers. I don't need another safe queen. I wouldn't sell my s&w cheap after looking at the gun for sale sights.

Well you'll never guess what I did today......... :rolleyes:

Temptation is the only thing I've never been able to resist so now I own twelve .357 Magnums.

This one will be another shooter. It feels really good to me.

Are those the original stocks?? Not that it matters because I like them. :D

Its not that I'm thirsty. I just have dry mouth from some medication I'm taking and this was just what the doctor ordered.

He told me to take it with a glass of ice cold water and I'd feel a lot better.

I do feel a lot better but my mouth (and wallet) are still dry. ;)

I was pretty much sold on this one before knowing what it might possibly be worth.

I'm just really happy that it didn't have a higher price tag or it might not be mine.

These guns are putting ramen noodles on the dinner plate more and more all the time.

At $1K I would have leaped. I call ramen noodles & PB sammiches my "Smith & Wesson diet!" :D
 
Any pre lock, any finish n frame depending on condition is worth more in excellent condition.

I think the mim, loc revolvers aren't too far behind price wise.

Sometimes we see $1800/2000 for n frames on guns for sale sights. I think that's where the prices are headed on the pre loc n frames.
 
Square butt. From the age of it, I would hazard a guess that those are the right stocks for it. Not sure if the frame is round or square, if round then the stocks may be round to square conversion stocks.

SO what was the final price if I may ask ? I would love to get something like that, it's on my want list along with a few other stainless models.
