Welcome to the S&W Forum, My54ford.

Your revolver very likely shipped from the factory in 1958. Is it actually marked MOD 10 on the frame in the yoke cut? I suspect it is not. Others in that serial range were not yet marked with the model number. (You showed the assembly number on the yoke, but did not supply a picture of the frame behind it where a model number would appear if there is one.)

And yes, there is another screw hiding under the right stock panel; this is a four-screw frame.

The barrel is marked 38 S&W Special CTG on the right side, even though your pictures do not show it.

No model number and yes it does say special

actually not too worried about my 400 buck investment. I collect vintage HK imports so this purchase wasn't much....
Thanks for all the help!!!....
