Got a product restock alert from Targetsportsusa.com yesterday for CCI 500s at $89/1000 and $430/5000. I thought "Oh boy! Thats only $12 more than the 5000 strange foreign Ginex primers I just bought". By the time I stopped thinking about it the 1000s were down from 99+ to just a few and the 5000s were all gone. So...fate saved me from making another impulse primer buy.
I have been finding primers lately at a few on line vendors. Decent prices, for today's market. When trying a new to me vendor, or one I've never heard of, I keep my purchases fairly low, just in case. The ones I've found are either odd ball payments and (the ones that irk me!) are the ones with a $200 to $300 minimum. Don't know if they are legit, just don't bother...
Was in Omaha Scheels last week. They had small rifle and pistol primers in stock for $89/1000. I stopped and looked then walked on. Saw a couple other guys do the same. I think it is nice to see people not buying primers when available. . Maybe, , just maybe, primer prices will start to come down a bit.
For guys like me just starting out reloading, we have no options but to pay market prices. I live in a reatricting state as well, so targetsports, local shops, and Cabelas are the only options for me. Cabelas hasn't had any pistol primers yet, they're just getting powder and Rifle primers back now. Targetsports just listed some Winchester smal pistol primers for $83 for 1000 so I bought some, but with a $30 hazmat fee, they're still not cheap. I need to call my local shops again- but they're usually more…I suppose $83 for 1000 isn't bad considering I spent $75 for 1000 shotgun primers a few months back…
What I can't seem to find are large rifle primers.
EDIT: Actually I found some today - for $139 a brick.

I'm happy to see primers are actually showing up although in very limited numbers but the prices are so so high still. It just hurts lol...
Primers showing up around my neck of the woods as well. Seems like this is usually the tail end of the cycle. Seeing 9MM for 259 per K, so hoping over the next year we will see some price drops. This year will be the time to buy just a matter of timing in my mind.
Ammo is largely available in all calibers and no limits. Fingers crossed.

I have seen only 1 shop near me out of over a dozen shops who had primers. He had 1k SRP and 1k LPP. He had both priced @$129 each. I'm guessing that's why he still had them when I went back 2 weeks later lol. I'm guessing he found them in the back room and bought them back when primers were retaining for $25/k.
