Another reason to be anti-EV

How are you going to charge your EV when summertime brown outs occur ? The power grid is simply not adequate to support the added load of charging lots of EV's. Winter time presents yet another problem, running the defrosters to clear your windshield deplete a fully charged EV to the point that it requires charging before driving very far. Simply a technology whose time has not yet come, no capability to charge everyone's EV.

I saw an article not long ago that said we needed to reduce our electricity consumption  And given the dire condition of many of the electrical grids, this is probably true- but how? It's not just EVs but data centres and bitcoin mining. Even here in British Columbia, where we normally have lots of green hydro (Québec being another), we've had to buy electricity due to demage from wildfires that is affecting runoff.

And in a recent article, our RCMP are (gingerly) experimenting with Tesla patrol cars! (With panoramic glass sun roofs yet!)

RCMP warns push to switch to electric vehicles faces 'significant challenges'
The RCMP is trying out different types of electric vehicles to figure out how it can convert its fleet — the largest of any police force in North America — to fully electric by 2035.

Heck, we can't even handle the increasing electrical demands for air conditioning as the weather gets hotter.

EVs and heat pumps work pretty well (although they still need a lot of improving) and are fine in limited quantity but I fear we're putting the cart 'way before the horse in the mad dash to electrify everything.

So a bbl of oil makes about 22 gallons of gasoline and 11 gallons of #1 and #2 diesel/heating oils. The balance makes asphalt and polymers used to make most plastics and non natural fabrics. If they stop using "fossil fuels", we are still going to need crude oil for plastics, packaging and fabrics.
The alternative is more logging for cardboard, for which we no longer have the mills to manufacture. Woolen, cotton and flax fabric, if anyone still grows flax will be the standard or we will have excess oil and gasoline.
With the governments lacking brainpower, the oil companies will be forced to pay people to dispose of the hazardous waste, formally known as gas and diesel by burning it. [the most efficient way known]
