I know this is a never-ending topic and much is subjective, and I have read a blue jillion (that's more than a gazillion, BTW) forum posts. But I need to final decision help before I buy. I have listed some of my choices below. This list expands and contracts by the day. I would welcome your input, especially if you use, or have used any of the below. I'm sure there are more great choices out there, so I am open to those suggestions as well.

A little background: I am new to the Concealed Carry/LTC world and am finishing up my Texas license process. My EDC will be a Shield 2.0 in .40 with a built in Crimson Trace. My preferred IWB concealed carry method/position/ type of holster is I don't know yet. Something comfortable that will handle hot days without becoming a stinky mess in a few months.

I love the idea of quality leather, and I would definitely consider that direction for an OWB holster, but am not so prone to pick it for IWB because of sweating.

Below is the list of 4 contenders I am seriously considering at the moment. Please hit me with your experiences, concerns or other suggestions. I am a firm believer in the fact that, if it isn't comfortable, it won't be carried. My routine would be mostly walking or standing. I am planning something different for when I'm driving.

Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 -- Best IWB Holster | Inside the Waistband | AlienGearHolsters
  1. Reasonable price
  2. Popular
  3. Reviews and posts say it's comfortable
Clinger IWB Hinge Holster Package -- IWB Hinge Holster - Package Deal | Cushioned Concealment | Clinger
  1. Versatile
  2. Reviews and posts say it's comfortable
  3. I would probably get the extra shell for the Shield also and have one set up for OWB and the other for IWB.
  4. More expensive that Alien

Foxx Holsters Foxx IWG Hybrid Horsehide -- Foxx Holsters IWB Hybrid Holster (HORSEHIDE)
  1. Price is reasonable
  2. I'read good things about horsehide properties IE: Less moisture absorption than cowhide.

It took me 3 different brands to find the best holster for me which is the Vedder Light Tuck IWB which may not be best for you.

Maybe start with a holster based on the company reputation and positive reviews of the product.

What made me look at Vedder was the single belt clip. The adjustability of the cant angle. I found the Vedder to be the most comfortable out of the 3
I tried and the best belt retention and weapon retention. I probably spent a little over $150 maybe more on the 3 holsters I ultimately didn’t like or weren’t right for me.

Most concealed carriers have a drawer full of holsters they don’t use.

There’s a reason many have holster boxes and drawers...a lot of trial and error.

Personally for kydex...I only buy Pyntek. It’s a one man company and Mark is a great guy and makes an even better holster.

I also carry a Shield daily and recently added a LaserMax light and laser combo. I needed a new holster and Pyntex delivered.

If you can wait the turn around time, I’d recommend checking them out on YouTube or pyntek.com

Have had great experience with the Foxx, don't care for any of the Alien Gear I've used or handled.

The Longer looks kind of gimmicky, but I have heard good things about them.

Your Alien Gear choice offers a 30 day free trial. It's neoprene backer is comfortable against bare skin and impervious to moisture. If you change your carry, they will swap the shells for free.

I've been carrying my Shield 40 in a Little Foxx Hybrid for about 7 years and it's good as new. Have one on the way for Shield EZ 9.

I have plenty of FOXX. Very happy with all of them. I recommend the plastic belt clips - those metal things cut holes in shirts pretty quickly.

Ok, I'm adding Vedder and Pyntek to my possibles. I'm leaning away from Alien. Also, I am avoiding any that don't specifically call out the Shield 2.0 with Crimson Trace.

What about the Clinger? Anyone using that?

As I was wondering around in the woods today with backpack and camera gear, I determined that appendix or 4 to 5 o'clock would work fine. Decisions, decisions.

I really enjoy my Bravo Concealment IWB holsters, both for my Shield and my Glock.

This is the first one for field trial - Little Foxx horsehide hybrid. Good recommendations, simplicity, 3, 4 and appendix carry options, good reviews and I think the horsehide with the optional line will be comfortable. The 14 day return policy seems adequate and the lifetime warranty is a good indicator.

Honestly, this is like picking a wife online. You can never be quite sure ...lol.
