We received word this evening that my cousin has passed. He was a WWII Vet, serving as a radio operator on B-17s. He survived 28 bombing missions over Europe, including the first raid on Berlin on March 6,1944.He had a total of 244 combat hrs. in B-17s.He was part of the305th bomb group stationed at Chelveston, England.
From a letter he sent me some time back he said " I proably witnessed 100 B-17s shot down.I am thankful to God that I survived when only one in three completed their tour of missions."
Peace be with you cousin. We are grateful for your service.

Dav,
My condolences on yours and your families loss.
He looked at a LOT of air with hot steel sizzling through it!
R.I.P. Sir...

Just guessing he would have been in his late 80's or early 90's, so you were blessed to have him with you a good long time. I know that whenever a loved one passes, it is never easy, and you have my sincere condolences.

My hat is off at the passing of a greater warrior than me. A big salute and God bless his soul.
