I have some antique S&W knives that I can't find any information about anywhere else so I'll try here.
I have attached a photo of two types I own. The top one is a boot knife that I bought in 1982. The lower is a lockback folder that I purchased in 1979 or 1980. Does anyone have a valuation on these two knife types? Where does a collector usually market his knives? Ebay?
Thanks a bunch for having this forum.

The knife on the left is a Swing Blade Boot. The one on the right is a Maverick. From your pic, it looks like the logo on the handle of the Maverick is an inset and I don't recall ever seeing that before(but SWMBO says I do have CRS). Best place to market them could very well be here in the Classifieds(There was a poster right here looking for a Boot recently). After that there is always FleaBay. Although there is a little interest in them in the S&W community there is not much interest in the general knife collecting community.

Both are nice knives, well made using good steel. They were made at the S&W plant in Houlton, ME. The knife purchased in 1979 or 1980 would be very early production.

info on antique knives

The folding knife you have is mod.6061 Maverick. It has a rosewood insert and a clip point blade. The other knife is a swing blade boot knife mod. 6042. These knives were made by Smith and Wesson Knives A Division of Vermont Knives Inc.
According to Mr. C.E. Rinke ("The Knives of Smith & Wesson") they were manufactured starting in 1980. They made approx. 15 models of knives not to mention the engraved models....
I purchased my 6061 in 1980 for $44.95 and the 6042 in 1982 for $39.95. In my opinion these knives are of high quality...if the cost seemed a little high for the 80's. I seen many for sale on ebay ...asking a reasonable price. I hope this information helped you.

I used to carry one of those folders when I worked as a Paramedic in the early 80's. Not quite an antique, but if you're interested in parting with the lockback, give me a shout. It saved my bacon more than once, and I'm kicking myself for getting rid of it.

hi i have a 44 caliber folding knife with leather case and i was wondering if any of you guys could tell me where i would find a price for it

are these for sale?

I have a post about what i know of that swing blade and i'm very interested in those knifes because of family ties to their design, and id be willing to pay a good price for them, so send me an email if you are willing to part with either or both.

Well, since someone felt it necessary to bring this posting back from the dead I will provide the "normal" definition of antique:

It is common practice to define "antique" as applying to objects at least 100 years old.
