We have a Whirlpool Dishwasher ( 53 days out of labor warranty ... ) that has the electronis control panel. A couple days ago the Hot Water Wash light started flashing. Nothing else will work. I called Whirlpool, they said the first thing to try is disconnecting power - didn't work.
The next is to enter the correct sequence of button pushes, and this normally resets the panel. Unfortunately, she was not allowed to tell us what it was. Anyone here know the secret code ?????

I wish I could help you out. When I need a code (for anything) I always try:

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A, START.

Sorry, I know not many people will get that one :D:)

You forgot SELECT before START ... I always had a partner.

A couple years ago Whirlpool did a recall on some dish washers for defective control boards. Mine was just one digit off from the recall list. After replacing two at my own cost i tried to convince Whirlpool to include mine in the recall or contribute to the cost of the third control board.

I didn't have any luck so i just picked up a cheaper dishwasher. If its necessary to spend 100 bucks yearly i can just buy a new washer yearly.

Just FYI if you start chasing control boards.

Sorry, can't help with your problem but wanted to add that I have a KitchenAid (owned by Whirlpool) dishwasher and last week the control panel caught fire.

We smelled the burning wires and plastic so I disconnected the power. Opened the windows and called the non-emergency fire number. The FD came over and checked to make sure no smoldering fire remained.

The next day we called insurance company and Whirlpool. This dishwasher is 5 1/2 years old. When my wife asked if we needed to notify the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) the Whirlpool lady got real helpful. Next day the factory repairman arrived and determined that we could repair as we caught it really fast so only the board and wiring harness was burned.

All of this on the Whirlpool dime and no cost to me or the insurance company.

All of this to warn everyone NOT to turn on the dishwasher and leave or go to bed. I will never again run the dishwasher unattended.
