2006 XE king cab, 115,000 miles. About 19 MPG general driving, highway/ town. Good truck, I would buy again. No mechanical problems in the 115K miles.

I have a Xterra which shares components with the Frontier.
So far so good. Solid machine. Lots of them out here in NM.
How can you tell you are in an agricultural locale?
Easy. You are having lunch and a John Deere parks next to you.

All 2005 and later Frontiers and Xterras are built on a shortened version of the fullsize Titan frame. The frame is so deep the transfer case on a 4x4 barely comes level with the bottom of the frame rails. Think brick outhouse for strength.

The interiors are chock full of hard plastics, but at least it is tough hard plastic. The 4.0 V6 trucks are not wonderful on gas but the motor does put out plenty of grunt.

The only known big issue is that some Xterras and Frontiers have had failures of the transmission cooler which I think is inside the main coolant radiator. I also know that the first design of washer fluid bottle was prone to breaking. Most have probably been replaced under warranty by now.

I have a 2005 4WD Crew Cab. Great truck (I put a tool box in the bed for emergency/winter supplies). Only problem is the radio and my air pressure light(==goes off with the first good freeze each year).

I get about 20 overall with my 4.0 (275 hp) V6 but it'll walk away from just about anything on the road, if need be. Wife has a 2000 Pathfinder==same engine but only 175 horses. She LOVES it but it is a bit of a dog going on a long uphill!

My only car that seems to have been better was a 1985 SR5 4WD Toyota (4 cyl, standard cab)==went 325,000 with only clutch work and a top-end job.

I had a 2001 frontier until monday, bought it new
I don't beat on it, we have yearly inspections here, and mine was due end of nov, I brought it in and found out the frame was rusted beyond repair, 130,000. miles.
runs great, drives great, 22-26 miles per gallon
I was kinda pissed when i got the news
and i really liked that truck
so monday i traded it for a new 2013 frontier
anybody have rusted frame problems with this style truck?

12-13 years in a state where I assume they salt the roads? I cannot say I am too surprised. I cannot recall if that model had a fully boxed frame, but if not then the salt is going to get in and rot the steel unless you do your own additional protective measures.

Dislike. All nissan motors sound like a washing machine after 40k miles. Ick haha

I had a 2005 XTerra, and it was an excellent truck. Great engine, drove nice, just a very solid vehicle... I sold it when my wife wanted a Volvo XC90. That thing was a *** mechanically! Ended up selling the Volvo after 4 years of misery, and got her a new 2013 Toyota Avalon; very nice car, and decent gas mileage... Should never have gotten rid of the Nissan.
