Well since I am retired I decided to treat my self to a few days of pure fantasy and entertainment. I have all 25 Bond movies (Yes I count Never Say Never Again, although many do not) and I plan to watch them in order starting with Dr. No. and ending with Specter. I don't recall any that I though were bad, so I plan to eat pop corn drink diet cokes and Bud lite and just enjoy the Bond girls one and all.

Oh there is one that I don't count and may not watch, which is the very first one, the original Casino Royal a Spoof of 007 with David Niven, Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, and Orson Wells. I suppose it is OK as spoofs go, but it is my least favorite Bond Movie and I don't include it with the other Bond movies.

My suit, now my Tux gun, since 1985 is a custom Interarms stainless PPK in .380...... worn to every Bond film opening since ...... what ......."Living Daylights"..............

finally got a blue PPK about 10 years ago (gee Blue was hard to find) ..... and my first .32 PPK/s 4/5 years ago............

Still remember when Gardner gave Bond a ASP in the "new" Bond books.....and IMHO think Bond should be carrying a 3914NL!!!!!!

other than that ......not much interest!!!!! LOL :D

When Bond made the change over to the P99 in the movie The World is not Enough , I bought one, it's marked Her Majesty's Secret Service, MI6. My big mistake back then was that I didn't buy the silencer for it! I purchased a Walther P5 instead ?

I tried reading a couple of the Ian Fleming novels. They're a literary train wreck. Not as bad as Perry Rhodan, but almost unreadable.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Connery Bond films, especially Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice.

I won't watch a Roger Moore Bond film today, since to me they're nothing but overlong Monty Python skits.

I don't mind Daniel Craig (despite his anti-gun blather - Connery is anti-gun as well), although I haven't seen three of the movies. I did REALLY enjoy Skyfall. It was an homage to the franchise even moreso than Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Crystal Skull was to the Indiana Jones franchise.

I'm also a huge fan of the John Barry soundtracks, and at one time had all of the Bond versions on vinyl. Years ago, there was an interesting interview on NPR's "Fresh Air" that discussed them. It was essentially conceded that most of the lyrics to the themes were gibberish, but finely crafted gibberish intended to convey the spirit of the particular film.

I bought a PPK/S back in the '80s, mostly because of the Bond movies. I ended up selling it to a friend in the '90s when I needed money. Like my 4" 29-2 (purchased inspired by 24hr.s), I'll probably get it back from the same friend some day.

Several years ago I went to buy a PPK at the LGS. The sales guy also took out a Sig P232 and said I may be interested in it. Since I had Bond on the brain I bought the PPK and soon regretted it as the sharp edges tore up the fleshy part of my palm. Should have gone with the Sig.

We think alike, however, my choice is the 3913NL or 3913TSW. I have a pair of the 3913NL pistols, but I don't have a 3913TSW. I sold my 3914 years ago. When it comes to a compact concealable 9mm, the 3913 is my choice over all others by a wide margin. Of course its blued twin would be OK in a pinch. LOL

Back in the early 1970s at one of the OGCA shows in Columbus (back when they had them at the downtown Veterans Memorial), I ran across a Ruger Standard .22 pistol with box, allegedly formerly owned by Ian Fleming. It had a lot of fairly convincing documentation with it. As I remember, the seller wanted $300, which was a lot more money back then than it sounds today. Anyway, I passed on it, but always wished that I had made the investment when I had the chance, even if it turned out to be a fake. Does anyone know anything about that gun?

Big Bond fan. Sean will always be "the" Bond, but I like Craig, despite his whinging about the role. I think Lazenby was the only guy who didn't complain...but a limited run ;) Still carry the PPK on occasion. For what it is, a fine gun. Definitely needs the Pachmayrs, though, if shooting more than a few rounds.

'Tis amazing what can be found on the web. James Bond Creator Ian Fleming's Ruger MKI Pistol
Wouldn't have believed it, but the provenance cited looks pretty good.

Re my #11 above. This may be that Fleming Ruger. I remember it as being a Standard, but my memory is not that accurate after 40+ years, and it could well have been a Mk1. Also, I do not remember a holster, but again it was long ago. Looks as though I may have screwed up badly back then, but $300 was more than a week's pay. I wish I could pin down the date, but it had to be sometime between 1971 and 1976 which was the period I lived there.

Connery and Craig are my two favorite Bond actors. I absolutely hated Roger Moore, who in my opinion turned the franchise in to a cheesy bunch of ****. The rest were OK, but none compared to first and last.

In our political correct environment, I wonder how long until we have a Jamie Bond? Or a Jamal Bond? Just not the same ring.

As a side note, we had a team of electricians at one of my places of employment whose actual names were James Bond and Jessie James. We also had a Dick Tracy. :D

Craig & Brosnan are my favorites. Oh did I mention all the leading ladies...not too fussy there...yum.

I probably read my first book in 62 or 3. First movie I saw was from Russia With Love and I saw it a bunch of times. I didn't care much for the movies after Goldfinger. Took me a long time, but I got a PPK/s and a couple of PP's.

I think it's probably a Fleming gun. I read an earlier article in, Life (not the issue seen in the photo) and he held it in the story, and other guns, inc. a Colt New Service .45 or .455. On book covers, Fleming was shown with a Colt Official Police .38 given to him by OSS General Wild Bill Donovan and an S&W Centennial.38, maybe an Airweight.

I've always wondered what the "long barreled Colt .45" was that Bond carried under the dash of his Bentley. I think it was maybe Fleming's New Service that inspired that, but it could have been a .45 auto, a common pistol among Britain's wartime special ops agents. The long barrel target .22 carried by a girl in a short story may have been inspired by Fleming's Ruger MK I. He definitely had one in the, "Life" article that I read about 1960.

Yes, big Bond fan. Connery, Craig, Dalton, Niven, Moore, Brosnan, Lazenby, in that order. Between Niven and Moore I would add Arnold from True Lies. As he walks away from the posh party, holding up his detonator, saying "Here is my invitation," you suddenly realize it's a terrific American Bond movie. With an Austrian (?) Bond. One of only two movie franchises my wife will go with me to see.

I have all the movies except Niven's. Never even tried reading the books. I may have to give them a whirl.

My order of preference would be:

Connery, Craig, Brosnan, Dalton, Lazenby, then Moore.
Moore always seemed like too much of a prissy pretty boy type for the role IMO.
