Any idea what S&W revolver (or pistol?) this S&W holster goes to? B38 .45

I picked up this S&W vintage-looking black leather holster the other day, I'm having a tough time determining what it goes too. Google turns up nothing definitive. My 4506's and 645 kind of fit, but not great, then again it's not exactly a molded holster either. I'm thinking it's for an older S&W .45 revolver.

At one time my dept issued those to command to wear under the dress blouse for our 39, 439, 469, 5904, 6904. Agents got them if they wanted them. Then when we went to Glocks we got a new one.
I still have mine both of mine.
Never really cared for them. They held the gun, that's about all. We went on a raid one evening and one of my agents was carrying his. The subject got a bit unruly and we ended up having to taking him to the floor. The agent's gun fell out on the floor.

Indeed, it seems like a very light duty holster. Sitting on the sofa watching TV might be a bit too much for it's retention if one were to recline too quickly!

Like the ad said, Don Hume designed the "Agent 9" holster for the Illinois State Police as an improvement on the previous belt slide holsters from a couple of makers in being made from two pieces of leather instead of one.

As Captain Oliver explained when showing his, tightening the belt tightens the retention of the holster.

From the master S&W / G&G fit chart, depending on the era, 45 could have more than one meaning.
45 = S&W .45, 10 mm Auto, Colt Government Model, Beretta 92, Ruger P85/90
