What I know is, Alonzo is in need of a win at his home track. What is not certain is weather he can overcome the lead points held by S. Vettel, Red Bull team

Have not watched it yet, but Go Kimi!

What was it, 11 of the last 12 poll sitters won. No passing make for a snoozer, I hope I'm wrong.

Couldn't be happier with the result! Well maybe if the midfield order was a little different, but the podium is excellent.

Good passing for a track that is difficult to pass on, but still people were being held up. It wasn't a snoozer anyway.

Monaco is next week! The most boring of all the races to watch and the one I most want to see. Funny how that works. I was reading how Hamilton wished there were more tracks as narrow and dangerous as the Monaco course, as it made for a better test of driver - and I tend to agree with his general statement. The consequences for pushing beyond, rather than remaining on the edge of capability, have been reduced to nothing or even rewarded. Monaco is one of the last places that is absolutely unforgiving and rewards those on the limit, while punishing those who go over. No AstroTurf run offs or kerbs that can be cut with abandon. Mostly, it's wall. Even today, the track is much different and safer than it once was, but it's still a tight, confined track with very difficult sections that place a driver into the position of having to run as close to possible to the wall. Vettel called it "no place for sissies" last year. Amen.

That said, it turns into a "follow-the-leader" race that is boring as heck to watch. But the glamour, oh the glamour. I won't talk about history, or legacies, or the images of what the race represents, but it's definitely all there.

For years I never missed watching an F1 race.
When it went to NBC it ended for me.
Never watch that network.
Suppose Bob Costas is somehow involved.

This sort of comment just makes me smile.

It was a great race. The Ferrari strategy gurus must have worked overtime to come up with their master plan. They whipped Red Bull fair and square and the Mercedes team are just one lap qualifying wonders with no race pace. McLaren got a better result than I expected but the commentators forgot to mention that one important update could not be raced as it was not certified.

It's even more boring if you're there watching it in person. When we were in port in Cannes in 1972 (Med Cruise) and the ship got a number of tickets to the race. I was lucky enough to get one and we went by train to Monaco. It was raining but we got to watch from something like the third floor of a building under construction right as they go uphill toward the casino. We could see about 100-200 yards of the track. Boring doesn't describe it. But hey, I can say I've been there.

Good race. It was nice to see Eddie Jordan doing the podium interviews.

Alonso's Russian GF looked pretty cute, I'll have to google that later...

Alonzo pulled off one heck of a move at the start. Good race, love them Ferrari's

I've heard that from just about everyone I know who's been... still doesn't change the fact that I really want to go!

Might want to check your schedule, Monaco is weekend after next (the 26th). I still prefer Spa but Monaco is one of the classics as well (not many of them left)

Monaco is special because of the cache' of Monaco. It's the ONLY street circuit race I WANT to watch but nothing beats Eau Rouge. Except that first turn at COTA. Almost forgot, Spain was not boring. What Alonso pulled off on the first lap set the tone for the whole race.

Bah! End of semester nonsense has got me all confused. Two weeks...

Spa is the best track on the circuit for racing, no doubt. I also like Suzuka and COTA.

...the only thing I look forward to in Barcelona is a daily visit to La Boqueria and not getting my pocket picked by Gypsies...

A great race and I am glad to see that NBC picked up David Hobbs and Steve Machette. Wish Will Buxton would tone it down some. NBC is doing a poor job with all the commercial breaks. NBC = No Bloody Coverage

What's your problem with Will Buxton? Him getting all flustered by a close encounter with grid girl this weekend was hysterical.

As for the ads, it's commercial television true to the American model. Speed was not a whole lot better.

Funny story. When commercial TV beat out the BBC (no ads) for the rights to braodcast F1 in the UK they were a bit confused about when to put on the ads. Their original plan was to have ads during the pit stops. They were advised that there was exciting action during the stops and maybe that was not a good idea.

Supposedly they went to Bernie Ecclestone to ask what he thought. Allegedly, Bernie's reply to the question when to put on the ads was, "What ads?":D There was much hurried checking of contracts to find whether Bernie had actually signed the rights over WITHOUT provision for commercials.

Oh, I don't know. A stop in Los Caracoles might be in order.

A excellent choice.....10 years ago. Too packed with Euro trash and Food network denizens.
Try Escriba and Igueldo for a more laid back and local vibe without having to elbow past Gunther and his overweight spouse.

Ferrari's decision to race hard and not worry about the tires raises some interesting questions for races to come. If they have the F138 mechanicals sorted out it's going to make for a much more interesting season. It was nice to see all that red on the podium. I'm also glad to see Kimi & Lotus doing so well, and was surprised to see Mercedes do so poorly.
