I really enjoy watching birds and have about a dozen feeders and a few suet hangers. Just when I think I've seen every bird from this area a new breed pops in. Even band tail pigons show up late summer. The only problem now is that it is getting a little spendy and sun flower seeds are rising in cost.

Why don't you plant some sun flowers? You can get a lot of free seeds that way and they look cool. Just try to keep the squires away from them, they know the exact day before you are planing to harvest them.

I feed hummingbirds. They are cheap to feed. 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. I clean out the feeder once a week if it isn't emptied prior to then.

Yep, I feed birds all year long, especially during winter, really enjoy it.

I have birds that expect food every day. I love to see them come and go.

I feed the Bald Eagles every winter. We have a pair that nest inside the Mississippi River levee behind our duck blind just north of the Tennessee - Kentucky border. The blind is about a half mile from the eagles roost outside of the levee. It never fails, a duck will go down on the water and one of the eagles will swoop down and pick it up. This happens at least once a week during duck season. Big bird taking another bird to breakfast/lunch/dinner. Really pretty to see them up close.

I feed about 60 Mourning Doves twice a day. They know my schedule and I call them "My Doves". It's always fun to see the young ones show up.

I hunt, but have never even considered shooting one of those birds.

I've even chased my boys inside so the birds can land and eat.

Yes!
Suet feeders (2, each with a different food).
Two seed feeders, 1 sunflower, 1 thistle seed.
2 Hummingbird specific flowering plants (1 of each type preferred by the 2 types of hummer's here) as well as sugar water feeders. The neighbors have a water garden stocked with Koi(sp?) There's a giant Heron that enjoys stopping by their fish farm now!

Oh Yeah. We Feed the birds and shoot the squirrels. (.177 pellet)

We feed birds year round. It aggravates my wife to no end that the squirrels get into the feeders (I've learned that squirrel proof means that they can't chew through the feeders). I get a kick out of it since I like watching the squirrels as much as I do the birds.

My wife, the anti-gunner, has asked me several times to buy a supressor so she can shoot the squirrels without the neighbors knowing it.

YES,been doing it for years. Was watching the early morning show just a little while ago.

i feed the birds only during winter months. they really enjoy the suet cakes. but they have to share with one hungry squirrel. she especially likes the peanut flavored cakes.
she's a hickory nut junkie too.

I feed with 7 feeders in the winter months only as I have a bluebird trail in spring and summer which takes time to monitor. We live in farm country and the birds have lots of natural feed on our property anyway in the summer.
