Any one using 5 round Quick Strips?

Just realized the Tuff Strips I saw that only came in 5 shot were the colored ones; the black come in different sizes so I'll probably just go with 6 shot Tuff strips and pouches for my 5 shot gun. Unless someone has a reason the Bianchis would be better.

I like the quick strips. I carry two of them in my pocket everyday. I dont have any issues using them but i do practice with them about 2 or 3 times a week. Once yo get familiar with them you can load a revolver failry well.

I've found a number of belt pouches online meant to hold 6 loose bullets.Would a loaded Speed Strip fit into these or are the bullets spaced differently?

Dillons sells the speed strip wallets. I have a 5 strip and an 8 strip wallet. I now carry the Tuff Products 8 rd speed strip so I have two reloads on one strip. I too, load 4 and fire as taught by Michael de bethancourt and a few others.

Just ordered a Blackhawk Speed Classic for my 442 along with a couple of Bianchi Speed Strips(6 round but I'll only load 5). I'll have them Monday and will need to figure out how to carry the strips. Besides the pouches from Tuff and IHL, has anyone tried to use something like a maglight holder or even a magazine holder for strips? I would definitely carry one, maybe both strips.

All I know about is speed loaders, so the quick strips are news to me. Please keep writing. I don't have any organized means for a quick reload for my S&W 637 .38Special.

I have always carried one HKS speedloader and one speed strip with a j-frame, the speed strip being my second reload.

Some food for thought, this comes from an instructor and snub nose "expert". The thought is that in a J frame you only reload 4 rounds. When the SHTF speed is needed, and if your reloading your in deep. When reloading you put two rounds in at a time off the strip. So its two, two, close cylinder. Other wise it takes 1/3 the total reload time to load one round. Also part of the advice was to have two strips with four each. So you will have 13 rounds vs 15 but you are faster reloading. Oh also when you close the cylinder with 4 rounds you wont know where the missing round is so if it clicks just shoot again...

To me it makes some reasonable logic...

This is the method I use. I carry 4 rounds in a 6-round Tuff Products Quick Strip. I use the Simply Rugged ammo pouch on my belt. I like it; it's a spill type pouch, so as soon as I pop the snap open the strip falls into my hand. FYI, with practice I've been able to consistently load the cylinder so that when I close it the next 4 trigger pulls will each fire a round. However, I've never tried it with someone trying to kill me, so I just keep pulling the trigger as mentioned.

I've tried all kinds of variations, from filling all 6 spots, to the Ayoob 5-round method, to loading the strip with 2-rounds-space-3-rounds. I always end up coming back to 2+space+2+space as it's not only quicker, but is also less fumble-prone when reloading quickly (at least for me).

I've tried the 5-round Quick Strips, but for my hands they just didn't feel secure enough, like I couldn't get a good enough hold on them when reloading quickly.

I thought about trying the 8-round strips in a 2+space+2+space+2 configuration, but I think it might be too unwieldy for me. I will probably give it a try someday, but for now I'll stick with 4 rounds.

I have the 46 round strip that hooks on your belt and tucks into your sock. I load it 2 space 1 space 20 space 12 space 6 space and then 5. Seems to be the best combo for me....:)

I use the 6 round Tuff strips...I figure it gives me a spare in case I drop one.

Me too, I figure if the poo is so deep I am reloading, I might need one more round.

Walt Rauch said "What do you plan on doing with five that the first five didn't do?" I always liked that comment.

I'm carrying the Bianchi 6 shot speed strip but only load 5 for my 442. I carry it in an Uncle Mike's latex glove pouch that I got on Amazon for $10. It's a double pouch so it would actually hold two strips in seperate pockets but I just carry one and actually have latex gloves in the other (I've got First Aid/CPR/AED certifications from getting a rescue diver card).

Just picked up a 642, so this will be my next purchase. Very informative 4 pages, fellas. Thanks. Tuesday will be "Quick Strips and Holster(s) purchase day"!
I see there are 8 round quick strips. Any of you using those, following the "only load 4 as it's quicker" but then, would be left
with another four, instead of just 2 on a 6 rounder? (If any of that made ANY sense?!)

I figured a picture might be better. This is an older picture but I still use the same set-up.

This is what I do to load 4. The reason for the spacing is that it makes it easier to get the 2 rounds lined up in the chambers with a lower chance for fumbling the reload. I don't load all 6 rounds in the strip.

However, this is what works for me. The best thing I can suggest is for you to try the different configurations mentioned and see what works best for you. The strips are inexpensive, so getting a few different varieties to try shouldn't break the bank. I'd also suggest getting a couple sets of dummy rounds (I like A-Zoom) so you can practice reloading safely before trying it with live rounds.
