dan-g recently brought up the idea of having a PC627 UDR finished with Melonite which got me to thinking I might like to do the same.

Is there a Photoshop wizard here who could help me out by giving my UDR a virtual Melonite finish so we can all get an idea of what it would look like?

Thanks! :)

send me a link/picture showing the color/coating and I 'd be happy to do it for you. I work in Photoshop all the time and love doing stuff like this! :)

Thanks, Lil' Ladysmith!

Here are two not-so-good photos of my M&P 340 which has the Melonite finish. Basically, it is a flat, dull black.

OK I'm really confused. While your M&P 340 cylinder may be melonited, I cannot see how the Scandium/Aluminum alloy frame can be. My understanding is that melonite involves temperatures that would melt aluminum. I could be wrong about this.

You're correct, the whole revolver does not have a Melonite finish, but in the context of this thread, the distinction is immaterial. The color is the subject and on both the cylinder and frame, it is the same.

Beautiful 627PC there XTrooper. I bet it is smooth like butter...

Thanks!

I can honestly say, that in 40+ years of owning, shooting, and carrying Smith & Wesson revolvers, this one has the smoothest action I've ever experienced.

As promised! I did 3 versions actually. All black, 2 tone, and all black with darkened/stained grips. (I just had to do the last! ;) ) If there's any other combination you'd like please let me know and I'll make adjustments. :)

woops.... helps to post the picts!

I like the two toned one. I polished the cylinder on mine, the rest of the gun is original matte gray with the bright shiny cylinder. I like polished chlinders, it gets the carbon off faster and I like them clean. I will get a photo by Saturday.
