Beretta Goes west: new model from Uberti through their new parent - page 3 | Guns Magazine
"Ever since the Schofield Model replica appeared I have been hoping for a similar version patterned after the New Model No. 3. I was elated to finally see a replica one from Beretta/Uberti dubbed the Laramie and it is impressive.
Treat It Right
The Beretta Laramie is a beautifully blued, 6 1/2"-barrel, .45 Colt, top-break, automatic ejecting, single-action sixgun. The sixgun is all blue, with the hammer, triggerguard and operating latch case colored. To load or unload, the hammer is placed in the first notch, the combination rear sight and top latch are lifted upwards, allowing the barrel, top strap, and cylinder to rotate 90 degrees, automatically ejecting the shells. The cylinder is then reloaded, the barrel is grasped and rotated upwards 90 degrees and the latch carefully locked back in place. Slamming a topbreak revolver shut it is a great way to loosen it up rapidly.
Just like an original New Model No. 3, the Laramie has a full-length barrel rib. Instead of being patterned after the standard Model No. 3, the Laramie is more like the Target Model as the rear sight operates much like the original rear sight on the Smith & Wesson Target Model New Model No. 3 with two screws allowing adjustment for windage. The square-notch rear mates up nicely with the half-moon front sight. To remove the cylinder for cleaning, the Laramie has the same type of screw in the top strap found on the older Russian Model."
