Any Thomas Edison fans out there?

As tradewind36 pointed out, the Edison and Ford Estates in Fort Myers are very interesting.

I've been through Edison's many times as a young police officer when the burglar alarm sounded. There was an old grounds keeper there on midnights, whose name I have forgotten in the many years (pushing 50) since I was there.

But he would let us in to play with the various exhibits that the tourists could only look at from a 6-10' distance.

As to Henry being infatuated with Thomas, they were next door neighbors for many years in Ft. Myers. Lots of photos locally showing them together.

Last thing and the absolute coolest. I don't know if Edison's home (across McGregor Blvd from the laboratory) is open to the public or not. For several years it was not.

If you get to see it, you'll notice there is no air conditioning, yet it is as cool as can be, even in the summer. The old grounds keeper explained it, though I have forgotten most of it, but the angle in which the house is facing with respect to the River and the breeze which always comes off it, was the subject of much exacting research by Edison in order to get absolutely all the cool air there was to get. And he did it. One could, I think, live quite comfortably there today without A/C.
