I recently won an egunner auction for a gun from Buds and had a very poor experience. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar.

I've purchased several guns through online auctions - Gunbroker, Sierra, Rock Island, eGunner, GunAgents, Buds, and even Armslist. Buds was the worst experience I've had.

After the auction, I paid by credit card and sent them an email asking if using an FFL from their preferred list still required ME sending them a copy of the FFL documents. Four days, NO answer.

Sent a second email, four more days later, and STILL no answer. Went ahead and sent the FFL paperwork. Still no response or action on filling my order. I called them several times over a 3-4 day period and couldn't get through. Every time I called their robo-voicemail system always told me I was caller 10 or 12 in the queue with a 30 minute (or longer) wait time.

I tried using the "press 1 to receive a call back" feature in their phone system - nobody ever called me back. I followed their instructions to try calling in the evening during their "less busy" time. Still huge queues with 30+ minutes wait time.

Finally I just gutted it out and waited 25 minutes (my entire lunch break) on hold until someone finally came on the line to talk to me. The rep acknowledged that the gun was all paid for and the FFL paperwork was all in order, but had no explanation for why they hadn't shipped the gun for nearly two weeks.

I was told my order had been moved to the shipping department and would be shipped the next day. The online status of my order FINALLY changed to show it sent to shipping - where it sat for ANOTHER 3 days before it FINALLY shipped.

So all told it took nearly 3 weeks from the point of it being paid for before I actually got the gun in my hands today. FOUR emails went completely unanswered, and it took a half a dozen phone calls and nearly a half hour on ignore to get someone on the phone. Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had with an online firearms purchase.

Then to top it all off, when I went to pick up the gun today, my FFL told me he had problems with getting and printing a copy of Buds FFL paperwork. So much so that he said HE is going to stop accepting transfers from Buds, because they no longer put a copy of their FFL in the box (which he says the BATFE requires them to do) and it took him over an hour to get a printable copy from their website for his records.

Anybody else had problems like this with a Buds purchase? I don't think I will be bidding on any of their auctions again. I probably wouldn't even consider buying direct from them either.

They are not speedy with shipping, but otherwise I've had no problem with them buying NEW guns. Neither has my buddy, but we have it easy as our FFL is on their list. Never tried their auctions.

A bunch of the LGSs in my neck of the woods refuse to accept transfers from Bud's, or levy a "Bud's tax"--if a regular transfer is $30, a Bud's transfer is $50.

I used to think they were just PO'd about Bud's undercutting the hell out of them, and their bickering about Bud's paperwork was the result of that.

Anyways, Bud's prices really aren't that great anymore. If I want a new gun, I can just go to one of my guys, ask politely, and get a gun at Bud's price or less.

That's bizzaro....

"We'll sell you guns, but we do transfers our way instead of what's required by law."

That's like saying, "We'll order you a car, but what you don't know is that you
will have to make any arrangements with the factory in order to get it.

That's really LOUSY!:mad::mad::mad:

I've bought lots of guns and other things from Bud's and it was a great experience every time, until recently. I bought a Ruger Silent suppressor, and didn't hear anything from them for nearly a week so I checked my credit card statement. They deposited the money so I called ... and called... and e-mailed... and called...and e-mailed....but never got a hold of anyone. Finally after 3 weeks I called and talked to someone and he said there was an issue and they cancelled my order. He said they tried to call me and they sent me an e-mail and I said no you didn't, I check my emails and spam daily and my phone is always with me and there were no voice mails. He said they had just credited the money back to my credit card and I said well, do we try to do the purchase again and he said yes. So I went through the process again and gave him my credit card number and I then discovered the price had gone up about $130 more than what I originally paid! I said cancel my order and enter a note by my name that I am a very unhappy customer who will never be shopping here again!

Buds has gotten really bad. I just received a new 442 pro series 3 and half weeks after I ordered it. That is inexcusable. I won't buy from them again. Gragagun had better prices and I get my guns in 2 days.

I’m never been comfortable ordering a gun from Buds, or anywhere else where I can’t personally inspect it before hand.

I have bought a few guns from them in the past, been a while though. They used to be pretty dependable back then, doesn't sound like they are now though. Lots of places to buy firearms where they have good customer service.

Well, it happens I guess, a company provides a needed product, with decent service, and so it grows. Then it grows beyond it's ability to support the customer that helped them grow to begin with, and then they begin a decline, often times never realizing what cost them their success...

Couple of years ago a co-worker of mine stood in line at buds for 3 hrs to get a Black Friday deal on some type of shotgun he wanted,as he was 2nd in line he was pretty sure he had the gun bought, when they opened the doors he went straight to a salesman, told him what he was after and was told they were sold out, then they tried to sell him a more expensive one, that didn’t go over very well, needless to say he and about 15 to 20 others left, they also did it to me on a sig 556, don’t even look at their adds anymore

I ordered a Colt LE6933 from them last year. Awesome customer service and best price on the web.

They have a dept dedicated to only NFA items. When you order you have to contact them within 24 hours. I think they answered on the second ring. Quick Form 3 turnaround and took bank draft as payment.

They still have some of the best brand new NFA prices around.

My corporal had a bad experience with them and will not do business with them.

IDK which Bud's location you are talking about, but the phone problems sound familiar. I once tried to call them to check on the simple availability of a lousy box of ammo. I burned ten minutes of airtime pressing all the options and got absolutely nowhere. On one of several attempts, I actually got a live person who informed me I needed to contact some other department. Another several minutes of listening to menus and pressing option numbers followed. Nothing. I finally said "expletive this" and ordered it online from MidWay USA...problem quickly and easily solved. There is a Bud's store in Lexington, KY and it is pretty nice, but I would never dream of doing business with them unless in store and in person.

I've ordered several guns from Buds gun shop online and I've never had any problems at all...

I've...

Used their layaway.... No problems

Shipped them a gun on a trade for a new pistol on their website... Very smooth transaction, Gurney responded quickly with the emails...

All transactions went by smoothly and shipping from them to my FFL was within 4 days... I'm in Texas.

Perhaps the department that deals with online auctions needs revamping or perhaps they deal with 3rd parties. I don't know... All I can say is whenever I dealt with them online, the transactions were smooth, fast & painless...

Special shout out goes to J&G sales.... Very quick shipping, fast & painless transactions.

Very interesting.
Recently I bought a rifle from Buds on Gunbroker. They were about $30 less than the next cheapest on a $700 Gun.
The transaction went very smooth and communication throughout the transaction was adequate and timely.
Sounds like I’m one of the lucky ones.

I've never had any problems. EZ check verifies ffl and being an approved shipper means ffl is on file. They should have answered your question but they probably figured you should have known. I made a straight up trade with their internet director at last NGD. Took 60 seconds from start to finish and it's one of several ftf deals we've made over the years. I've bought a few from the website and it does take a couple days longer. Some say they sell before they buy but new guns have little interest to me and usually CDNN closeouts are all that tempt me.

Only good things to say
Bought a new long gun
Used their FFL finder
Seamless transaction

Had a problem a few years ago but it was excusable. It was for a rifled 1100 Rem barrel, package was labeled 1100, but in small print was 1187. Shipped it back their expense and they sent me a new one express shipping. All the other orders were fine.
