I have a chance to trade into this one. Sorry for the subpar photo - its his, not mine.

No box or goodies. I think it shipped with the Packies, not sure. The main thing is its a .45 Colt, and I think most were .44s.

He only wants to trade. I think I can get it for my CMP Garand (replaceable) AND my Ruger .44 gorilla killer carbine (not so easy to replace).

Any idea on what these things are actually going for these days?

The shorter the barrel the higher the price.

A couple years ago I traded into a 6” 44 for about $1300. Didn’t have any intention of keeping it - never cared for the 6” barrel, scrawny ejector rod, etc. immediately flipped it for $2K at the same gun show. Still smiling. However, if it were the .45 Colt version I may have kept it, at least for a while.

I have 2 Anacondas currently; both are 6" barrels; one a 44 Magnum, the other 45 Colt. Both guns are great shooters and very accurate. I don't know why Colt revolvers in 357, 44 and 45 are so accurate but they are. The Pachmayrs are original. My first Anaconda was a 4" 44 Magnum which I never cared for and traded for a high condition S&W Model 29-2. The Colt DA triggers and the weight of the guns were why I prefer Smiths.

I agree that the price is $2K give or take. Good Luck.

FYI: I just saw a .44 Mag Anaconda LNIB with everything on my local Armslist for $1800. A .45 Colt version would be worth considerably more.

Buffalo Bore oks their hot and heavy ammo for the Anaconda, whereas they warn against it in the Smith 29 series.

My Army buddy bought a new 6" .44 in 1999 for $600ish at the Topeka Gun Show. I wanted to get a .45 Colt example and have it gunsmithed into a New Service equivalent, but they went bye-bye soon after.

The Anacondas are absolute tanks, brutes and can handle really heavy stuff. The only knock is they is ugly!!

I’ve only seen two in .45 Colt here in PA. One sold for $2,450 about two years back. The other they were asking $3,000 but I don’t know if it actually sold for that. I really like .45 Colt revolvers, and the Anaconda is one of the rarer ones, so if I could trade into one I would.

Their merits as a gun are no longer the primary issue .

Do you want a * Snake Gun * for collection/ investment purposes, or a strong large frame .45 Colt DA revolver for shooting ? If the later, get a Ruger Redhawk .

( No insult intended to .45 Colt N Frames , I was going by the implied parameter of handling " Ruger Level " loads .)
