I'm especially interested in .45 for handgun (not rifle) and see they list one bullet for the .460 with some info and .45 Colt with no info.
I'm wondering what the differences are when considering only Ruger or equivalent formats.
Any imput/help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can call a tech guy at Hornady and he will for certain tell you what the deal is on that bullet your talking about. I was curious too but I use the 200gn FTX for the 460 XVR and they have loading info on that one.

Thanks, Scrapper, I'll do that.
I realize that any info from experience is only anecdotal but would still like to hear if others have done .45 Colt FTX loading yet.
Thanks.

I am actually interested in this loading also I just haven't pushed myself yet. I might call them today also.

I bought a box of Hornady's 45 colt in 225gn FTX and used them in my 460 with very good results. The gun is so big it shoots them like a pee shooter. LOL

I load the 200 gr FTX for my 460 XVR. It's very accurate. I didn't know they made the bullet in a 225gr.

Something else to look for.

The 225gn is a 45 Colt load, Which is very light as far as recoil in the 460 XVR.

Well, I did get in touch with Hornady today. Bad news was that the 200 grain meant for the 460 won't work for .45 Colt chambered guns on two counts - too long for cylinder and much too much velocity req'd for performance. Makes sense to me I guess.
While I was at it I asked that same question for their .430 225 gr .44 mag bullet and got the same answer.
Good news is that the .225 gr .45 Colt sounds like it will be more flexible in nature. He said that, performance wise, it will range from velocities (he said 'impact' velocities) of from 700 to 1400/1500. However, there is no data available as yet.
He seemed to say the bullets weren't out there yet either. Scrapper, did you say you had some?
Anyway, I still looking forward to trying them when things come together.

What I have is Ammo from Hornady. They are 225gn FTX 45 Colt Ammo.

Good! That means they are out there. So, have you tried any .45 Colt level loads or only for the .460 (on the screaming side)?
Thanks

I tried them both and handload for both so I can't wait for the 225 bullets also. The 45 colt Hornady ammo is like shooting plinkers out the 460. They seem to shoot very accurate with hardly any recoil at all. I have not done any penetration tests though.
