Either red dot or regular crosshair scope.

Just wondering how it worked out for you.

Pics appreciated.

I know it would look funny but I'm thinking about doing it for targets and possibly short range deer hunting. I was thinking of scoping a 4" 629.

Thanks

I have a 5" 629 Classic that for a short time I had a Leopold 2X scope on. I enjoyed shooting it and it was very accurate. On a cold December black powder hunt I made a bad shot on a fine deer. When I went to pull my backup scoped .44, the scope got hung up in my butt pack. A bad day got worse. I took the scope off when I got home. Since then I have only scoped long barrel guns because they are already bulky. I like the short barrel guns to be more 'available'. If it is only for the range, go for it, but for hunting I would keep the short barrel clean for quick shots and scope a long barrel gun. Tim

I had a scope on a 6-1/2" 629 Classic for a while, and still have a scope on a 6-1/2" Model 57. Nothing on a 4". And I really think a scope on a 4" would be like carrying a piece of a 2X8. I prefer the open sights for carry. Use the scope to work up loads and then go back to factory irons...
