Anybody Work for Dick's Sporting Goods?

I dont know anything about them but I see they are building a new store in st george utah. Would also like to know about them.

They are okay, nothing really spectacular. They don't even begin to compare with Cabelas, Gander Mtn., or Bass Pro Shops. Not really great prices on ammo, but okay. Its kind of like a Target of sporting goods. Mostly flavor-of-the-moment stuff, tons of "LiveStrong" junk, and mostly lower quality stuff. Sometimes they run a sale on ammo, but again, nothing great. Buying a gun is hilarious.....my experience would be a separate thread entirely ....they don't let you touch it AFTER you buy it, place a trigger lock on it, and carry it out for you. They then hand it to you on the curb at the parking lot. It also didn't help I had to explain the 4473 to both the clerk and the "manager". Believe me, it is mostly junk, especially to those of us (like the majority here), who are knowledgeable when it comes to shooting sports.

They do however, have EVERY trendy sneaker in existence.

The local area Dick's Sporting goods only sells long guns and those they sell are the lower end, plain Jane guns. Their sales people are only semi skilled in their ability to know about their products. I do not care for their prices either.

OTOH, both my local Fleet Farm stores, one in Wisconsin and one in Minnesota, have started selling handguns. They sell sneakers, too, and dog food. Overall a better experience than Dick's.

I like Dick's when they run their sale on ammo, buy one get one half off--and it is still more expensive then just buying at Wally-world.

Dick's has the best price on .22LR CCI Standard Velocity that I have seen at $25/500. That's about the only thing I buy at Dick's.
With their recent sale buy one get one 50% off it was quite a deal at $37.50/1k.

Guess I'm lucky, the gun counter guy at my local Dick's is really good. He is knowledgeable about his long guns and complains to me every time we talk that he can't carry his 1911 at work.

Great prices on ammo when they run their sales - I stock up on 9mm every other sale or so.

Dicks has recently opened in the Tulsa area. I stopped for a quick walk-thru assessment last week and was not impressed with the stuff I looked at.
It remains to be seen if their sale prices are any good.
For the big chain stores around here, I'd prolly stick with Academy. They at least sell handguns.
The only other big chain in this area is Bass Pro. No Cabelas or Gander Mtn, etc.

The Dicks here is just a high priced sports equipment and clothing store. Up stairs in the "Lodge" they have some long guns.

They were "brilliant" in building 100 yards next to a huge Bass Pro Shop. Don't see how they stay in business. Guess it's all the Sportswear.

A new Dick's recently opened in Conway, Arkansas, and I went down to check out the ammo sale. You are exactly right, even with the "buy one get one half off" sale I could still get it cheaper most anywhere else.

It's more of a place to get designer clothing for snow skiing, running, biking, and has a good selection of Under Armour stuff. As for hunting or shooting, it's not a whole lot better than Walmart and the prices are way high.

I wasn't impressed at all. I went when they opened one here but I went online first to look at what they had to offer as far as firearms and related goods. The selection looked good until I got to the store and found out the store only stocked about 10% of what was on the online site! It would be nice if they noted on the website what items were not available in the store. Wasted trip, don't think i will going back!

We have two nearby and the ammo deals everyone else talks about are never at neither of mine, it's cheaper for me to go to Walmart. Lower end long guns like everyone else says, Savage, Marlin, ETC. Sometimes ok sale prices on those. Everything else in the store is full blown retail pricing. It's a total waste of my time to go in there for anything.

Good place for golf equipment; not so much for gun stuff. Made one spectacular buy a few years ago. Ten boxes of 32/20 for $9 a box. They had ordered it for someone and they had never picked it up. Must have convinced them that they would use it in a rifle, as the local store does not even carry handgun ammo.

The nearest Dick's has a large inventory of latest microfleece and gortex clothing and trendy seasonal stuff. The firearms department is almost nonexistant...
