Anyone else love their SW 1911?

I just got a S&W 1911 a couple weeks ago. I cannot say enough good about this firearm. Honestly, I'm not as good of a shot as my 1911 allows me to be. I really like the feel of it in my hand (weight & size), and it's so precise I am not even thinking of adjusting the sights. Anyone else here have an opinion on the SW 1911? I'd be interested to read what others have to say.

Yep. I've had mine for two years now, about 2500 rounds or so. It is my preferred shooter out of the five 1911's I have which are all wonderful and cost at least $1200 more than I paid for the S&W. It's out of the box, tight and right.

That same one is sitting in my local shop and I have been avoiding the shop because I can't afford it right now and I don't have anything I'm willing to trade. It's taking every bit of will power I have to restrain myself. They are nice. In fact they are the nicest production 1911's being made, if I do say so myself.

I have the 3" Pro Series SW1911 and it's by far my most accurate carry gun. It just fits me perfectly. Carries like a dream, shoots the same way, what's not to love?

So yeah, other people love their SW1911.

I love mine. Wood grips, standard guide rod, fixed Novaks, and no front slide serrations. Very accurate and utterly reliable. What's not to like?

I have the full size 1911 and a 3" Pro, since I bought these pistols I have no interest in the others sitting in the safe.

While I can't say I love my 1911PD it has been very reliable with no issues with about 700 rounds through it.

My 9mm Pro Series is one of my favorite guns - extremely fast shooting, very accurate, and wicked good looking, too! I've been carrying it for work but have recently had to switch to a .45 so this one will be relegated to IDPA duty only. There is a positive side to the switch, though. I've got a new SW1911 Compact ES coming for off duty carry, can't wait to get my hands on it!

Excellent guns IMO, very reliable, accurate, and reasonably priced. My wife liked my first one so much that she claimed it and I had to get a replacement. We both have a 108282, and I also have a 4.75" 1911PD that I use for carry.

I love my S&W 1911! I have around 13,000 rnds through it so far and have had great sucess. It was my first 1911 and I went through the police academy with it. Not one malfunction. Another agency was using the para LDA and they were begging me to use it.....yep, I love my Smith!

Let me put it this way, even if I cared for the lady that lives here only to keep me broke, she would leave before any of my S&W 1911 guns leave. In fact, I have a few so called customs and they would leave before the 1911 guns do.

I have a favorite rifle, a favorite shotgun and three S&W 1911 handguns that will remain with me as long as I live. In fact, I will even buy any other stainless 5 inch 1911 S&W guns I find at a reasonable price.

It was a used gun w/200 rounds through it when I got it. This is the first clip out of the box from 10 yards when I got it, and I am not a great shot.

Yes, I really do like my 9mm Pro Series S&W 1911. It is the only gun that gives my Hi-Power Practical any competition for range time. The Hi-Power still wins, but the Smith is never far behind.

It's the finest shooting 1911 I've ever owned. But, I've got to confess that I've owned, nor shot, any of the really "High Priced" 1911 models that seem to abound in all of the various gun rags. They probably are better. But, applying the "law of diminishing returns", relegates them all to the UhUh, NO BUY column. I just don't think you gain enough to justify the additional expenditure.

So, yes, I really do like, and enjoy shooting my S&W 1911. It's one damn fine gun!

Great pics of your S&W 1911! I am not the photographer you are but I do love my 1911. It has never failed to feed or fire regardless of ammo. It eats everything I put in it.

From S&W, I have the Performance Center Black Melonite 1911 and also the "Professional" 9mm 1911. Both are wonderful.

Most of my 1911s are Wilsons (where I can custom-spec each purchase), but the S&Ws , which cost thousands less, perform with superb consistency and reliability.

Even with a multitude of fine 1911s to chose from for my CHL qualification, I chose to use the 9mm S&W ... it's a nice shooter with low recoil; and the white-dot sights work really well in the specific lighting and other circumstances of my state's CHL range qualification requirements. I still have yet to experience even one jam/failure-to-feed/etc. with this 1911. (The other 1911s, I must say, have been similarly reliable, so needless to say, I'm pretty much a 100% convert to the 1911 platform).

Interesting thread, the designer of the SW 1911, Jason Dubois spent some time at the SWCA meeting in Orlando last month checking out some of the old iron. Very nice young fellow. If I recall some of the first guns have JDB prefixes in their serial numbers to give credit to Jason.
