Just wondering if anyone here has ever seen this British War Movie made in 1950? It's They Were Not Divided and stars Christopher Lee and Desmond Llewellyn (aka) "O" from the James Bond movies.

I cant find much on it except that it takes place D-Day and after and it mixes British soldiers with American Soldiers? and I think the movie goes on through to the Battle of the Bulge???

I thought I've seen all WWll movies made but this one has bypassed me or I just don't remember it. The good ol'days of sitting on Saturday with my father watching Westerns and war movies oh what to give for those days again. I guess I'll have to look for this one.

That bottom picture is RSM Ronald Brittain.

>They Were Not Divided (1950)

The film begins in a WW II training depot of a British Guards armoured regiment where recruits from many walks of life learn to survive the strict discipline and training together before going into battle in tanks. There is a cameo appearance by the real Sgt. Major Brittain who was famous in the British guards regiments. <

Saw it quite a few times when a youngster in the UK but that was soon after it was made. Basically finishes if I remember correctly just after the battle of the bulge with their scout cars being hit and all dying. Dave_n

Interesting. Don't think I have ever seen this one.

I won't post a link, but a DVD is available on Amazon for about $16.50.

Another funny thing is--is i stumbled on this by accident when i was looking for images of sir John Mills in: Dunkirk.

Thank you for this Dave, and much appreciated. Ill have to pass this along to Ray, Darren and Paul (a few friends I have in London) since none of them recall it. Ray's father-who is in his 90s and still doing well, served in a British Scouts unit through WWII. Paul's Father was in the Artillery, and Darrens dad was too young for WWII but served in a unit in Korea. I think Ray and his Father might very well appreciate this too.

Never heard of it before. Thanks I'll keep an eye peeled for it.

Im hoping to get a copy in the next month or so? If you have a player that plays all regions? I can loan you mine or get you one? My player was altered from the company I got it from to play all regions. So far so good.

I saw the same thing yesterday.I noticed that some go in excess of about $40 for the title--even used... I have a few others a friend sent to me that the Newspaper: The Daily Mail--gave out free copies of--around 4-5 years ago. I have Dunkirk, HAD--The Way To the Stars, and had others but--loaned them out to a friend who never returned them.

There are some things that you never loan to others, with a few (based on the individual) exceptions. Your wife, guns, books, records, tools, bullet moulds, etc, unless you are willing to consider it was a gift if things don't go well!

Heh heh, I learned the books thing the hard way too. Some of the ones I loaned-were to a Vietnam vet who never returned them. That was about 25 years ago--so maybe they did make a good addition to his library. :-))

Fully agree on the others too. I loaned one of my hammers--which had been m grandfathers-then my dads hammer-then mine) to a neighbor--who now says I never loaned it to him. The hammer's value to me--was that it was my granddads and my dads hammer. I loaned it out over ayear ago and ill almost bet the person left it outside and someone found and ""rescued"" it. I still have three hammers--just not the one most valuable to me.

I have no way to know what will happen to me in the rest of my life, good or bad. But a new addition to my nightly prayers after the "God bless Mama and Papa and Brother and Sissy etc is going to be a serious plea that I NEVER have to have an argument or chewing out from RSM Ronald Brittain. RILLY!! He looks like he could shout/scream Georgia's Stone Mountain in to a pile of pebbles or a giant redwood into a pile of tooth pics. Also I hope I never find out what he was saying in that diatribe in the pic above.

Also in the prayer I'll pray that whoever was on the receiving end of that scalding recovers their hearing and gets over the nervous breakdown that surely followed. After I looked at the pic I went and stood in the corner for an hour and contemplated self flagellation. Finally decided against it but it was close.....

He was probably only saying, "Good morning, SAH!" :D

You wouldn't want to see him chewing someone out.
