I've got an opportunity to pick up a full custom 29-2 and was wondering if you folks had any info. I did a web search and read some pretty good reports but if anyone has any first hand info I would appreciate it!
It's a N prefix 29-2, rated at 97%, with a 6" MGW heavy barrel, a wichita rib, matte chrome finish and a competition action job.
I've read that Lou was THE man for PPC guns in the seventies and where this is a 29-2 I figure thats probably the era it comes from.
The shop that has it is asking $725 and they don't negotiate, but I'm thinking for an all out custom, if it's all it seems to be, thats reasonable. I've got a few customs that Andy Cannon built for me in the eighties and early nineties that I wouldn't trade for anything, so I'm thinking this may make a nice addition to the collection. I like customs but only if they're top notch!
Thanks for any info you can give me!

Mike

I remember the name and my recollection is constent with yours, but that does not really provide the solid info you need. Sorry.

Correct, Lou Camillo, dba Maryland Gun Works, was known during the 1970s for building some of the finest PPC revolvers available. Would have enthusiastically bought one if it had not been too pricey on a young police officer's salary. I had the pleasure of meeting him personally at his booth at the 1978 or 1979 NRA Police Nationals. As I recall, he was a great guy and readily offered suggestions to improve my own match revolver.
