Just curious how much (approx) an account holder is paying for their (UPS/FedEx) mandated overnite service to ship a handgun versus Avergae Joe walking into their service counter. USPS not an option since I'm not an FFL.

I'm not an FFL either. I have a Fedex account but I don't do enough volume to earn any discounts as I ship very few items. I believe that just having the account gets you no special privileges or discounts other than being able to check your account charges, etc. online and being able to drop off your package and have the shipping charges applied directly to your credit card.

No 01 FFL either, but I have a UPS account I use to ship handguns. It's convenient, but there is no discount. I use USPS for long guns.

You mean that ordinary folk can actually have an account at UPS and FedEx? It doesn't cost any thing? We have several UPS stores here in Oshkosh but they will not even ship a sling shot much less a firearm. I always say that I am shipping "tools" when they ask me now. To me, my 52-2's and 952's are some of my nicest working tools.
Am I committing fraud or something?

Yes anyone can have an account.

You're not committing fraud but you are breaking the law. Check the FAQ section on the ATF's website.

Folks, you really need to check the tariffs for both carriers. I shipped a 29-2 a number of years ago via Fedex ground after listening to some of the geniuses on other forums. The gun was either stolen or lost. When I filed a claim with Fedex, they told me where to stick my claim. I had violated their tariff that required priority overnight and they had no obligation to honor the claim. And you haven't lived until you have to file a stolen gun report with the police and the ATF.
