I'm considering an M&P9 Pro and was wondering if any of you folks have one, and what you think of it. I like that it has a fiber optic front sight. The web sight also lists the trigger pull as 'smooth' and 4-5.5 lbs. Can any users confirm what the trigger is like?

My purpose for the pistol is strictly as a range gun, not self defense. I currently have an XDm that I like very much, so I'm considering a second polymer pistol.

Thanks for any input.

I tried searching for M&P, but there must be some trick to it because it doesn't get any results for me. I tried using single and double quotes around M&P and still no results.

I have one that I'm using in IDPA/SSP and USPSA/Production.
It has become one of the most popular guns in SSP, right behind the Glock. Personally, I never made friends with the Glock "Luger" grip angle.
The Pro trigger is pretty much as advertised. I don't feel enough difference between the Pro and the Apex trigger kit to spend the extra money, but the Apex is distinctly crisper than the stock M&P service.

I come from decades of shooting revolvers, so I'm not a short-reset freak as is common with the shooters that come from STI/SVI raceguns. Many 1911/2011 shooters just don't like the triggers on combat tupperware.

Is the Apex an after market trigger kit?

Yes. If you don't like the Pro sights and trigger, you can start with the 9L and put on custom sights and Apex trigger and save a few $ over starting with the Pro and throwing away the Pro trigger and sights. I shot a 9C with the Apex kit and it was quite good for carry or range. Not that there is anything wrong with the stock trigger.

I have a 9pro with the 4.25" barrel and night sights. The trigger is better than my Glock 22 with the standard 5.5lb trigger, and feels a good bit better than the standard M&Ps I've played with at the store

I purchased the 5 inch M&P9Pro when they were first announced. The trigger is much better than stock M&P's and the gun has been totally reliable.

M&P 9mm Pro

I have the 5" with a stainless slide. Its the best all around 9mm i have owned. Reliable, scary accurate, fits the hand great and the trigger is hands down better than the non pro variant or any Glock i owned. The only one close was my G34 with the 3.5 pnd trigger but the M&P is better. .
I also had the 4" with night sights which was a great gun but i just liked the balance of the 5" better.
The only Glock i have kept is my 29SF because of the caliber.
You cannot go wrong with the M&P Pro.
