Apache brand is the Harbor Freight version of hard gun cases. They run about 40% of cost of pelican cases on the long gun size. I am looking at long gun cases for flying to Montana. Any feedback on these would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a number of these cases for various handguns, and I like them. My concern (since you are purchasing for air travel) is whether they are TSA approved. This is an angle that I've never investigated.
I have a few 1800 models for single handguns (with and without optics), a 3800 for my match Glocks, and I plan on getting a 2800 for my dual slide P365-380.
Having watched luggage getting loaded on/off planes, including the ones that fall off the conveyers, trying to save $$ on gun cases that will be baggage compartment carried is really poor planning. I recall reading about a hunt where a guy opened his case and found the rifle stock broken. To say nothing of optics. Airlines managed to destroy two Samsonite suitcases of mine.
I like Starlight, but your $$$. ETA: Starlight out of business. Damn! Pelican appears close second.
